‘HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA’: AN ANIMATED FEATURE WITH A-LIST VOICE TALENTS
Seeing this one featured countless times in trailers or clips, probably back at its release or maybe in sequel promotion, I had never seen Hotel Transylvania. Finally, I decided to and discovered a pretty cute animated movie.
Hotel Transylvania (2012) Film Review
Protecting his baby girl is the number one priority of Dracula (voiced by Adam Sandler). There is no other option but to isolate and keep any hint of a human away, not just from her, but from any other monstrous creature who cannot live a normal life. On her 118th birthday, Mavis (voiced by Selena Gomez) is ready for change. She wants to see the world and experience part of the life her mother had before her sad death. Adventure waits Mavis, and she’s ready for it because, after all, she’s no longer eighty-three. Her one hurdle is her father.
But on her birthday she gets permission to leave, and so she does… but is the world she sees really the world? Plus, what is with the curious newcomer here for her party? hotel transylvania

It has a bit of “spook” with all of the monsters who gather to celebrate Mavis, and Dracula can get a little testy at times (especially about a threat to his daughter). Though I will say, I haven’t seen any bat look quite as friendly as this father and daughter pair. And it’s really the father and daughter relationship that gets the most attention.
You’ll likely recognize many of the voice which all stack up. From TV stars Fran Drescher to David Spade, Andy Samberg to Kevin James, and Molly Shannon. There’s lots of vocal talent from some of our favorite comedy actors. Plus, it’s fun to “see” Selena Gomez in a vocal role. All in all, everyone gives their character plenty of personality, and the annoying voice joke is a fun “easter egg” joke given who it’s coming from. hotel transylvania
If you want something a little bit spooky, but not scary or horror-esque, something like Hotel Transylvania is a fun choice. It’s cute and easy viewing that is sure to make you root for a happy end.

Content: nothing much to note in this PG animated feature. There are a couple of minor innuendoes (someone walks in on a pair of bugs on their honeymoon and are urged to “continue” what they were doing; a skeleton is enraged that another man put his hand into his wife). Mostly, it’s the “violence” like people being on fire (it’s not really what it seems) or remembering what humans did to the Dracula’s. There is a suggestion that someone must die, and attempts are even made to roast them. The characters eat gross dishes, including a plate with worms coming out of pancakes.
