‘BANDITS’: THE ONE THAT WANTS-TO-BE A CLASSIC CAPER STYLE FILM
A film that’s twenty years old now but it has a cast that’s quite impressive making Bandits something that people may still enjoy.
Bandits (2000) Film Review
Though he’s in prison and serving a sentence for robbery, Joe (Bruce Willis) is clever. His plans come to him randomly without much planning. This time, his plan is a prison break and along the way, Terry (Billy Bob Thornton) becomes his prison tagalong. Together, they start up a bank robbery gang where the two of them become the overnight bandits.
Their plans go askew when Terry runs into, quite literally, Kate Wheeler (Cate Blanchett), a housewife who feels overlooked. When Terry brings Kate to their hideout, Joe has some choice opinions about Kate’s arrival until he finds he’s more than a little intrigued by Kate.
FILM REVIEW | ‘THE LOVE PUNCH’: ONE OF THE ROMANCE MOVIES SURE TO MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD
‘BANDITS’: THE ONE THAT WANTS-TO-BE A CLASSIC CAPER STYLE FILM. #BruceWillas and #CateBlanchett star in this 2000 caper film. #Movies #Movie #Comedy #ComedyMovie Share on XBandits is one of those movies I saw years ago after hearing about it from someone. It’s a film that has an interesting premise and is actually a good time too. At least for the most part. I do have issues with the kind of relationship this script uses and the film does run overlong. While one can overlook the length, I really cannot overlook the relationship issues. It just doesn’t sit right or work. This also knocks down the star rating.
The cast though is strong and much loved. Bruce Willis is someone who seems to be universally loved and Cate Blanchett has quite the impressive career. January Jones from the Love Comes Softly Hallmark series also appears in a limited role. They all turn in great performances, which is what makes these characters all the more intriguing.
If you want something that’s entertaining with some kind of edge-of-your-seat sequences. What I like best beyond the cast is the caper element. There’s some good examples of humor too which makes the length less of a problem. bandits
CONTENT: Couples make out and talk about “saliva” and what a good kisser someone is. There is a scene of a couple making out and laying down in tangled sheets before the scene cuts. There is weird sexual triangle, and someone involved in this is married. There is some use of weapons and multi people engage in a bloody shout-out. There is some profanity including sh*t and a use of the f-word.
