TEN BOOK TITLES THAT TAKE US SOMEWHERE INTERESTING

We all love a good armchair adventure, and any chance to feature books that do this, well, that too is fun. This is why today we are featuring the titles that are book destination titles, so the books that have a destination in the title.

Since I apparently have very little to say today, let’s just dive right in, letting the books do the talking, and see what we find as features for this week’s book list.

BOOK DESTINATION TITLES

MANSFIELD PARK and NORTHANGER ABBEY, JANE AUSTEN

We have to include an Austen or two, right? ‘Park’ on Goodreads • ‘Abbey’ on Goodreads

DEATH at THORNBURN HALL, JULIANNA DEERING

A fun mystery series set in the 30s. This time it takes it hero and his sassy American wife to Scotland! Goodreads

AUSTENLAND, SHANNON HALE

I loved the movie based on this novel but didn’t read the book. Goodreads

SURRENDER BAY, DENISE HUNTER

I’ve had this one and its respective later series books on my shelf for a long time. It’s set in Nantucket. Goodreads

THE RED DOOR INN, LIZ JOHNSON

Read this one back when it released and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Goodreads

MURDER at the FLAMINGO, RACHEL MCMILLAN

It’s been quite some time now since I watched this one, but I did quite enjoy it. It’s a 1930s (I think) era historical about the glittering world of night clubs, and as the title suggests, the danger of murder, too! Goodreads

ANNE of GREEN GABLES and THE BLUE CASTLE, L.M. MONTGOMERY

I cannot remember if the castle is imagination or real, but whatever… I’m adding these book to this list of book destination titles. ‘Anne’ on Goodreads • ‘Castle’ on Goodreads

KISS ME in NEW YORK and KISS ME in PARIS, CATHERINE RIDER

I read the Christmas ‘New York’ novel of this duo and I loved it. There are four more books in this ‘Kiss Me’ set, but from what I can tell they haven’t been published in the same editions as the first two. ‘New York’ on Goodreads ‘Paris’ on Goodreads

WILD MONTANA SKIES, SUSAN MAY WARREN

I did quite enjoy this novel, but didn’t read the rest. Goodreads

IN the SHADOW of CROFT TOWERS, ABIGAIL WILSON

Read this one years ago (well about five), and I think it’s kind of Gothic mystery and romance story that I felt was maybe influenced some (or my perception of it is this) by classic Gothic literature. I haven’t read more by Abigail though since I did enjoy this one I probably should! Goodreads

THE HOUSE on FOSTER HILL, JAIME JO WRIGHT

Jaime’s books aways sound so intriguing, but I think this is the only one I’ve read by her. Goodreads

  1. Awesome list this week. I’ve read many of these titles and they are all so good. Mansfield Park is my absolute favorite Austen novel. I know that’s quite different than most everyone else, but I really love that book. I think it is Austen’s best!

    1. I’m so glad to know you enjoy Mansfield Park. That isn’t one I hear as a favorite I’d agree, but I think it’s great when we discover an underrated book and hype it up. :) Someday I’d like to try another novel by Austen. :)

  2. I love these! Anne of Green Gables was initially going to be on my list too but then I found so many witch titles and decided to go in that direction. I have the Austen books on my TBR and need to read them soon!

    1. Thanks for reminding me! I was SURE the castle was more of a metaphor or some type of imaginary element but I couldn’t remember since it’s probably been three or so years since I read The Blue Castle. :)
