‘REACHER,’ SEASON TWO INTRODUCES THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATORS
A mega hit for Prime Video, season two of Reacher returns with its titular character finding trouble (again). This time in the form of his past.
Reacher, Season Two (2023) Prime TV Show Review
With nothing but a toothbrush, Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) wanders across the country. He doesn’t stay in one place long, and despite his skills from years leading a military police team, he doesn’t like to get involved. When he receives a cryptic message from his former team member, Frances Neagley (Maria Sten), Reacher makes his way back to New York. Once there, he and Neagley set to work uncovering the mystery of who murdered one of their former team members, and why they cannot get a hold of the rest of the team.
Among them is playboy turned family man David O’Donnell (Shaun Sipos) and Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan), the woman Reacher once shared a connection with. Together, as they look for clues and uncover secrets they thought were long buried, they honor their fallen comrades, all while trying to stay alive long enough to find the bad guys.
‘REACHER,’ SEASON TWO INTRODUCES THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATORS. #AlanRitchson stars as the popular character #Reacher. #PrimeVideo #TVShow Share on XBefore the first season even fully dropped or right after, Prime announced this second season. This same pattern applied to this season. Before this full season was fully out in the world, on the checklist of Prime Video is commissioning a third. A giant hit for the streamer, the show is based on the Lee Childs novels that features the Jack Reacher character in multiple of his novels. Of course, this role was also brought to the big screen through Tom Cruise’s role playing the silent Reacher. Ritchson does an admirable job playing the role, based solely on my experience of the character on screen. I also know, even having not read the novels, that Ritchson is much more like Reacher physically than Cruise is. The rest of the cast is good too.
TV SHOW REVIEW | ‘THE HUNTING PARTY’: ANOTHER CRIME DRAMA TRYING TO STAND OUT
You’ll only recognize one familiar face in this second season, which is Sten, as that’s the type of stories these are. (There is an unexpected cameo, too.) These seasons tell one story with a group of people, and then Reacher moves on and solves a case with another group. It works for these because of the character. The scripts do a good job of showing us who this character is, and in spite of his connectionless existence, we do still really like this character.
The series is, same as season one, mature and even without this level of content, will still be for the right kind of viewer.
Content: there’s lots of violence, same as is season one. There’s hand to hand combat, punches, knicks from knives and gunshot grazes. People die from torture (off camera) and people kill a trio of men (self defense) and bury them in concrete. There’s lots of profanity including GD, shit, and multiple uses of the F-word. A sex scene shows two people undressing and making out. The show is TV-MA. Please note: I didn’t see all of the episodes, so there may be other content, likely similar to what we mention.
