‘THE ELECTRIC STATE’ IS WEIRD BUT FUN REVOLT ACTION FILM
Heavily promoted, The Electric State is a Netflix film that has an impressive cast and a crazy (but fun) premise to match.
The Electric State (2025) Film Review
When it comes to her brother, Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown) will do anything to make sure he’s safe. He’s smart, and the only person Michelle is really close to, and she takes her role as his big sister seriously. Then she loses everyone, and one technological war later, and she’s all alone. This is why she sets out on a trip when a mysterious robot creature finds her. Along the way she picks up an eclectic group of fellow travelers.
First there’s the curiously suspicious robot and then there is a soldier turned smuggler named Keats (Chris Pratt) and his sassy sidekick. These four strangers take to the road where they may all have different end games…

I can remember reading about this film way back when (which reminds me, where is the petition to learn about TV shows or movies only three months before they release!?). Now it’s here and is a Netflix title that has high expectations along with being something I suspect many are anticipating. The film is a kind of sci-fi fantasy pic that won’t suit everyone. It doesn’t really have an it factor that will widely appeal (as far as crossing genres), but it does entertain, which I’m guessing is its primary goal. The Electric State is also a big budget film from the well-respected Russo (Joe, Anthony) brother filmmakers.
FILM REVIEW | ‘THE GORGE’: A FILM ON THE EDGE OF SOMETHING
Behind the camera impresses as does in front of. In addition to the impressive lead cast, you’ll also see Stanley Tucci as well as hear the voice talents of Jenny Slate, Brian Cox and Anthony Mackie, plus others. The cast is good and it’s fun to see this mix of talent in a film that may not have Oscar winner in its future, but is lots of fun. The pace is fast and so far, I’ve enjoyed all that I’ve seen Brown in. While I didn’t see any of her star-turning role (Stranger Things), I have seen her in some of her storied other roles, and she’s good. Same goes for her turn as Michelle.
Perhaps not a title that many will like, one thing I do feel confident in saying is The Electric State will probably put up impressive number stats. It’s a kind of weird robot revolt story in an apocalyptic world but gets philosophical with its emphasis on the importance of human connection. Whether fair or no, I can say, the film is good fun and most of the time, that’s all I need to call something a win.

Content: there is violence and some guns are drawn. Mostly the fights are with robots and thing being thrown around. There may be some profanity like shit or other crude language like asshole. The film is PG-13.
