‘HONEYMOON FOR ONE’ IS FAMILIAR TROPE WITH TALENTED CAST

One of the older TV film titles (that has aired on more than one network), Honeymoon for One is a familiar trope that is nonetheless entertaining.

Honeymoon for One (2011) TV Film Review

Workaholic is a moniker Eve Parker (Nicollette Sheridan) is frequently called among her circle of friends. She doesn’t seem to know how to take a break and even her wedding trip isn’t going to be a break. The trip she and her fiancé have planned is to visit a castle he owns and plans to completely change. The estate is in Ireland and Eve figures killing two birds with one stone is the ideal thing to do. When her fiancé has someone else that Eve doesn’t know about, everything changes. Eve ends their relationship and hoping to find some peace, she decides to go to Ireland on her own.

While there, she meets Kathleen (Katie Bannon), a young girl with an artistic eye. Her father Sean Hughes (Greg Wise) is a local more than a little annoyed by tourists and their seeming disinterest in Ireland’s true beauty, which is part of why he is disinterred in hearing any perspective that will tear apart his beloved land.

Like anything in this genre of film, what stands out most is the gorgeous scenery. If filming location trivia is to be trustworthy, this did film is Ireland and the lush greens and stunning architecture would buttress this fact. Even if they are more frequent now, I still love these type of European comedy flicks.

This title also boasts a pretty impressive cast, too. I like Nichollette Sheridan in the lead. She falls into some of the common tropes (heels in rough terrain, not knowing how to ride a horse), but she also plays this well. She’s a character who takes these mistakes and learns from them and she has fun with it even at her expense. In other words, she adapts rather than continue to make the same choices. Anyone who loves period dramas will also thoroughly enjoy seeing Greg Wise, too. He is known for many different titles, but perhaps none more then Sense and Sensibility.

If you like films like Leap Year or Netflix’s Irish Wish, then this is a must see. It’s all kinds of fun which leads to plenty of laughter and of course a sweet romantic moment or two.

RECOMMENDATION watchalikes

If you As Luck would Have It or Love of the Irish, consider watching this. Even Netflix’s Irish Wish is another good match.

Content: there is nothing to note. If it bothers you, this one does suggest a couple lives together, and an affair is revealed (nothing explicit). (Or the version I was watched did.) The film rates TV-G.
