HALLMARK+ APRIL 2025 ADDS BRITISH TV TO THE MYSTERY LIBRARY
Relaunched and branded in 2024, Hallmark+ is a streaming platform that originally began by putting new original content on its platform. But since its fall and then Christmas drops of last year, 2025 has been bare outside of a reality show here and there. Now the platform is all about being home to the content that airs on their linear channel. Still, they did add some new (for Hallmark) content this month which prompts us to look at the Hallmark+ April 2025 content.
TV SHOW REVIEW | ‘THE CHELSEA DETECTIVE,’ SERIES THREE: NEW MYSTERIES PUT DETECTIVES TO WORK
Honestly, I find it puzzling as to the “why” of Hallmark+’s lack of new content, especially when it was promoted, partly, as having new original content. I’m not sure if its because fans, who don’t want to add another subscription service, are upset or if it’s because of the leadership change up recently. While understandable that fans don’t want another streaming service, I also think those complaints, if there are any, are unfair because Hallmark provides (at a minimum) a new flick every week.
HALLMARK+ APRIL 2025 ADDS BRITISH TV TO THE MYSTERY LIBRARY. Looking at the #British TV that #HallmarkPlus is bringing to their library this month. Share on XNo matter what the answer is, it’s puzzling. Regardless of this, the streamer has dropped some fan favorite British series on the platform, and as a British TV obsessive, today I’m sharing these details.
HALLMARK+ APRIL 2025
Note, this is what the interwebs is saying, but outside of Hallmark+ promoting a “British Mystery Collection” on their socials, I cannot find the official releases from Hallmark+
ROSEMARY and THYME – available now
A three season run from 2003 -2006, this British mystery follows two best friends who try to solve curious mysteries in their small hometown. The show is a six episode (season one) and two eight-episode seasons. The show stars Felicity Kendal and Pam Ferris, and certainly has some familiar British guest stars for any of us who often watch British dramas.
About (according to its Hallmark+ Prime Video Page): Set amongst the stunning gardens of Europe, Rosemary Boxer and Laura Thyme, two professional gardeners, find themselves drawn into solving mysterious crimes.
THE MOONSTONE – APRIL 10
More miniseries than TV series, The Moonstone is based on the novel by Wilkie Collins. It’s been a long time since I saw this, but my memory of it is that it’s an elegant period drama with a talented cast.
About (according to its Prime Video Page): A fresh adaptation of Wilkie Collins’ novel, The Moonstone follows Franklin Blake as he seeks to solve the theft of a cursed diamond. He enlists retired detective Sergeant Cuff to uncover the truth and win back Rachel Verinder.
Content Note: A woman commits suicide (implied) and there’s brief (non-graphic) backside nudity. There is also some minor suggestive dialogue, but nothing graphic. TV-PG is the rating.
SHAKESPEARE and HATHAWAY – APRIL 17
This show is really fun and lighthearted. It’s about two people who jointly run a private detective agency after meeting when Lu becomes a suspect in a murder investigation. The comedy is the typical dry British wit, but again, it’s all super fun, and seems like a nice fit for the network.

About (according to its Prime Video Page): Out of shape and low on cash, Frank Hathaway teams up with ex-hairdresser Lu, forming an unlikely duo to solve crimes in their peaceful town.
Content Note: If it bothers you, it’s implied a time or two that one character is a homosexual, and there is some minor innuendo here and there. Some cases deal in affairs and sex. Nothing is graphic though (which applies to the entire series run).
THE CORONER – APRIL 17
Haven’t seen this one, but it sounds interesting and again pairs up two kind of mismatched investigators solving some mysterious cases.
About (according to its Prime Video Page): Solicitor Jane Kennedy returns to the seaside town she left as a teenager to take up the post of coroner, becoming an advocate for the dead as she investigates sudden, violent or unexplained deaths.
