Shakespeare and Hathaway, Private Investigators, Series One TV Series Review
About to marry, Lu Shakespeare (Jo Joyner) is a little bit skeptical. She wants to be sure her fiancé is faithful only to her, even at the risk of her mother’s anger. To feel comfortable about her choice of mate, she hires Frank Hathaway (Mark Benton), a private detective who’s down on his luck.
When Lu’s wedding has more than one twist, and doesn’t go to plan, she becomes a murder suspect. This then sets into motion a new career path for Lu who finds maybe she may have a knack for detective work.

‘SHAKESPEARE AND HATHAWAY, PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS’ SERIES ONE IS A FUN BRITISH DETECTIVE ROMP. Review of the funny BBC show! #DetectiveShow #FunnyTV #ComedyTV #TVShows #TVShow #BritishTV Share on X
With dry humor as is the typical British humor, Shakespeare and Hathaway is a fun and cozy British TV comedy. The mysteries are simple and uncomplicated, but the color comes with the quirky and fun characters. Lu and Frank are opposites which makes the working relationship between them fun. Personal antidotes aren’t as frequent, nor do we learn much about their personal lives which is unlike the American counterparts.
Fast moving with solid entertainment values, this show is the stereotypical British dramedy, and we love it for that. The cast is unfamiliar to me, but I like them together and that we get to see them solve goofy cases. I also like the disguises and wannabe actor with the assistant, Sebastian.
Anyone who enjoys mysteries like Agatha Raisin or Father Brown will enjoy Shakespeare and Hathaway. It’s one of those easy to watch series that makes you smile.

Content: nothing much to note in this TV-14 / -PG (episode depending) episode. If it bothers you, it’s implied a time or two that one character is a homosexual, and there is some minor innuendo here and there. Some cases deal in affairs and sex. Nothing is graphic though (which applies to the entire series run).
