THE WEEKLY NEWS aka POP CULTURE NEWS 188
According to their press release, CBC Television has renewed five dramas. One of these is the U.S. favorite Wild Cards. The dramedy will return for two more seasons (three and four) but no word is available (yet) about whether these will air in the U.S. Currently The CW is home for the stateside airing and its season two finale will air on May 7. According to the press release, this procedural is “set and filmed in Vancouver, [and is] a blue sky procedural with a comedic twist that follows the unlikely duo of a by-the-book, sardonic cop Cole Ellis (Giacomo Gianniotti) and a spirited, clever con woman Max Mitchell (Vanessa Morgan). From Blink49 Studios, Front Street Pictures and Piller/Segan in association with The CW, the series is created by Michael Konyves…”
In the same release, CBC also announced renewals for more of their fan favorite (and highly praised new show!) shows, too. This includes Heartland the multi-generational drama about family where lead character Amy Flemming helps run their family business and has a passion for helping horses; and Murdoch Mysteries (both returning for season 19) is the period drama set in the 1900s. Also returning is the network’s new drama and “CBC’s most-watched new series Saint-Pierre” which will be back for a second season. Saint-Pierre doesn’t currently have U.S. distributers, but maybe it will be seen here at some point, especially since star and creator Allan Hawco was also in the funny dramedy Republic of Doyle (which you can stream on Prime Video).
