POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN: MORE SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS
Hello, reader. We’re back with our end-of-the-week news roundup. Or rather a look back at some of the pop culture-type stories. We tend to stay away from the actual news because, well, that’s another whole kettle of fish, and we have even to talk about with just cultural things. pop culture news one hundred and seven
✨POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN: MORE SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS✨ Talking the usual things… like #WhenCallsTheHeart, #Suits and also, you know who, that popular pop star. #PopCulture #WCTH #Hearties #Hallmark #MargotRobbie #RyanGosling… Share on XLIST | ‘WHEN CALLS THE HEART’ SEASON TEN FINALE: SOCIAL MEDIA TRENDS ASK HOW WILL IT END?
It’s time to get the search engine ready as we take a closer look at the stories social media is making popular this week. There really isn’t much this week other than an update or two, and more of the same about a certain headlining pop star. As a result, we’ll just do a general recap rather than spotlight any one or two story. Here. We. Go.
POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and SEVEN
After being in development for a while now, there is some word on the Oceans 11 prequel which will reunite Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie from Barbie fame. There isn’t much being said about the story yet, except that it will “do right by the franchise.” The film is also rumored to be set in the 1960s.
After teasing out the possibility (albeit slim) of a revival of the newly (re)popular Suits (thanks to it breaking Netflix streaming records), it would seem there is NEWS about this show being a thing again… sort of. It would seem NBCUniversal is liking the popular of Suits quite well. So much so that series creator Aaron Korsh says he’s working on a new “iteration” of the show. This means it wouldn’t be a revival, but, hey, we could hope to catch up with a character or two through a guest appearance, right? This would be set in the “Suits universe and revolve around new characters in a new location.” What do you think? Would you watch this?
Taylor Swift made many (and I mean many) headlines again this week. First for her appearance on the red carpet of her Wednesday movie premiere (for her Eras tour film) and then, yesterday, for being at the Kansas City Chiefs game. I’m really quite over that. Like, we get it. Swift is attending KC games. She’s supposedly really into one of its players. She brings friends. She talks with the players parents. Ok. That’s all fine. Let her do that. And let’s move on.
If you followed the whole Oscar slap thing some eighteen months ago, Jada Pinkett Smith recently revealed that she and husband Will Smith while still married, have been separated for six or seven (I’ve seen both) years now. In one quote, she even says she thought the slap was a “skit” because of this and that Chris Rock had, years ago, asked her out. She said, in part, “I thought, ‘This is a skit,’ I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him.’ It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit.” Funny thing is, I said it was weird and not necessarily “real” way back when and everyone was like, “oh no! It’s real! You can see it in the video.”
This past week too, the popular When Calls the Heart was trending. A little investigation reveals it’s because of the romantic entanglement on the show, and whether or not Elizabeth and her fiancé, Lucas, will leave Hope Valley in his political pursuits and in order to save Hope Valley. I wrote about the possible ways the season ten finale could end this past week. Check it out if you want to chat about it!
If you followed the drama that was tied to the upcoming R-rated romance movie, Anyone But You, you may like to see it dropped its first official image still. Featuring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, the film will follow college archrivals who meet up again at a wedding.
It’s your turn now. What stories did you follow during the week? Is anything particular in pop culture annoying you? Do you agree or disagree with thoughts I have about them? Let’s meet in the comments and talk.
