‘LOVE ACROSS TIME’: LOVE STORY TRANSCENDS TIME

One of those titles that introduces us to a heroine travelling for work and discovering a secret, Love Across Time is a simple and cute romance if that’s what you’re looking for.

Love Across Time (2024) Film Review

Travelling to England, Chelsea Grayson (Aubrey Reynolds) is here to inspect an estate that the bank who employs her now owns. Staying there while she does her work, she doesn’t expect to run into anyone or be disturbed, even with the haunted rumors. Her exploring leads her to discover she has a housemate…  of a most unusual fashion.

Charles Barkley (Toby-Alexander Smith) is nobility with family lines long standing in this estate. Only thing is, he lives in the 1700s and Chelsea is living in modern day America. Together they must discover why their portal between worlds is giving them meaningful conversations.

Like so many others, Love Across Time is one of those titles that you see floating around on multiple free streaming platforms but then never watch. Finally, I did and I can say, it’s a sweet movie. Especially if you like titles like Kate and Leopold; the TV movie viewer favorite The Spirit of Christmas; or even Love’s Portrait which Reynolds led. She isn’t someone I’ve seen in much, but I’ve liked her in what she features in. The script also has some funny quips that are quite self aware and pokes fun at its own genre.

Full disclosure, this one is a slower story that has the leads sharing conversations rather than real action or having a lot going on. Regardless of this, Love Across Time (nearly 30 minutes in) does try to pursue seeing the characters have a greater connection because of this. If you like the characters visiting the modern world, then you’ll likely enjoy this time slip story. It’s one of those simple films that is easy to binge watch without fear something “bad” will be the ending. So if that’s your favorite kind of movie, well, you’re sure to enjoy this one.

Stream, at publication, Love Across Time with Prime Video; or find streaming free on Plex, Roku or Tubi

Content: nothing of note. There is a kiss or two, but this is the standard TV-G television movie fare.
