TV SHOW REVIEW | ‘THE GILDED AGE,’ SEASON THREE: SOCIETY BATTLES OF THE OLD AND NEW GUARD!
‘THE BUCCANEERS’ SEASON 2 FINALE RECAP: THE DUCHESS, SHE NOW KNOWS ALL! Recapping #TheBuccaneers season two finale! #SheKnows #PeriodDrama #AppleTV Share on XLast week there was, like any week, much drama. From romantic to court, it was a lot. Nan learns that more than likely Theo, the Duke and husband she now has a contentious relationship with, has shared a bed with her friend Lizzy (girl, you must be more careful with those jewels!).
This sets the stage for this week’s story, aptly titled ‘She Knows.’ Spoilers to follow!

SHE KNOWS, everything
Last week revealed three things to Nan. First that her natural mother would step up when Nan needs her. Then she learns that Lizzy, the woman who jilted her fiancé on their wedding day did so because she loves Theo. Further devastating to her is the bombshell that Guy too is married. This The Buccaneers season two recap picks up here with the reaction of Nan.
Let’s be real, it isn’t great. But let’s get honest, does Nan have a legitimate reason to be mad? Consensus should be no. She shouldn’t wish Guy to be alone (she is legally married) and in no way should she hold it against Theo that he bedded someone else. The emotional impact of her friend being the willing co-participant would hold weight had Nan not also slept with the bestie of her husband.
Nan has found her voice (can we also talk about that last episode reckoning with Nelle??), so of course, the girl has opinions on all of this. She lets it be known (in showdowns with Theo and Lizzy), but first there is proper manners to adhere to…
LIZZY and HECTOR
“I can be civil, Lizzy, but not with every single piece of my heart.”
– The Buccaneers, episode six

“The Buccaneers,” episode six now streaming on Apple TV+.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say I adored Hector’s every piece of my heart speech when he sees Lizzy for the first time after she jilts him. I cheered him on and felt it was justified. For the first time since that fateful day, the pair have a sit down. It goes like this…
He learns, even if not by verbal confirmation, that Lizzy jilts him because, well, she has a thing for her friend’s hubby. When he reads the papers (which assumes Nan takes her revenge) that reveal a Tintagel affair, Hector (ugh! writers again villainize every man on this show by having him be the source) visits. He offers protection, and shares his news about a prestigious cabinet position. He tells her he loves her still…
She accepts.

THE TINTAGEL BALL CONFRONTATION
The girls, who forgive Lizzy all point out that they are perceived as wrecks, and so, they walk into the ball heads held high.

in “The Buccaneers,” now streaming on Apple TV+.
Part of the proper duties and manners Nan must attend to is the annual Tintagel ball. She is the Duchess, even if only for appearances’ sake. Invitations go out, and the grand finale is also the grand ball. The Duke and Duchess make an appearance and at midnight, Nan, planning to announce she is carrying the next heir, takes her place but the Duke speaks first. Believing Nan put the story to the paper, he gets revenge and abdicates his title leading Nan to run carrying her secret.
MORE NOTABLE BUCCANEERS SEASON TWO RECAP things….
– Conchita and Ginny seem to patch their friendship, which may be difficult after Ginny’s cruel and abusive husband killed his brother, Conchita’s kind husband.
– Guy sulks over Nan ignoring him. Theo falls in and out of love quite easily.
– Nan seemingly let’s Guy go by offering congratulations to Mrs. Guy.
– Visiting her daughters in England, we see Patty offer Nan support. Meanwhile, in troubling mum news, we leave off with Theo’s mother “fixing” things; she summons a “dangerous” heir.
– Deserving of a shout-out; thank goodness for Greg Wise’s character. Right now he’s the only dude with loyalty and morals!
– The final question lingering, does anyone in this show have a right to throw a fit?
