THE RARE FEW FANTASY FICTION TITLES FROM MY SHELF!

Looking at a specific genre to build a list is an easy or relatively so, ask. However, since I try to always feature books on my shelf there is, as I realize, a lot of repeats. One genre I never feature (or rarely) is fantasy fiction books. I don’t ever really read the genre, but I do own a few, so let’s take a look at my bookshelf and see which ones I can feature.

THE RARE FEW FANTASY FICTION TITLES FROM MY SHELF! #Fantasy fiction titles on my shelf. #Readers #Reader #TopTenList #TopTenTuesday Share on X

From classic fiction retellings to team dynamics that fall into this genre, the goal is to use this genre fiction list to feature those titles I rarely do. So, let’s jump into this list!

SOME of the FANTASY FICTION BOOKS on my BOOKSHELF

SHADOWLAND, MEG CABOT

A title that could fit in my had-this-one-for-years box (as many of these can do) but never read it. It’s a contemporary novel (I think) about a heroine who acts as a mediator between the living and dead. Goodreads

CORAL and UNBLEMISHED (TRILOGY), SARA ELLA

Sara writes some fun young adult fantasy fiction. I read one or two novels in the Unblemished trilogy about a girl who only sees the “hideous” birthmark covering her face. Coral, though not one I read is a retelling about mermaids and also deals with tougher stuff like mental health. BEASTLY, ALEX FLINN

A modern retelling (in the young adult genre) of Beauty and the Beast. This also has an adaptation with Vanessa Hudgins and the story is very cute. Goodreads

HEX HALL and REBEL BELLE, RACHEL HAWKINS

I owned both of these at one time, but only ever read Rebel Belle (about a girl who develops unusual powers), which I think was a fun read. Either way, both have the “fantasy” tag so they are put on the list. ‘Hex’ on Goodreads | ‘Belle’ on Goodreads

THE RARE FEW FANTASY FICTION TITLES FROM MY SHELF! Fantasy novels that sit on my shelf (aka the novels I never read!). How many do you recognize?

TEARDROP, LAUREN KATE

I had this one but am not sure if I sold or donated it or if I still have it somewhere (in one of my boxes!). Based on the cover, it does look very much like a fantasy fiction book; it’s about a girl who doesn’t let anyone close and suffers a devastating loss. I feel like Lauren Kate was a very hyped author for a time, but I haven’t heard about her in a while. However, the first tag on this one is ‘fantasy.’ Goodreads

ELLA ENCHANTED, GAIL CARSON LEVINE

I read this years ago and don’t remember much but I do seem to remember it was fun. It has a fantasy tag so this funny Cinderella re-telling gets an addition to today’s genre list. Goodreads

THE CHRONICLES of NARNIA, C.S. LEWIS

Adding another book that I did actually read! I read three of the classic novels about kids who, during WWII, find a secret doorway that transports them to a magical winter-y realm called Narnia. Goodreads

A TOUCH of GOLD, ANNIE SULLIVAN

This one is about a king whose touch nearly killed his daughter once and the plot then moves forward ten years later to the princess harboring secret powers. I was sent an unsolicited ARC (way back in the day) of this one and never read it. But I did think it sounded super intriguing! Goodreads

  1. I think it’s great that you went out of your comfort zone a little for this post.

Have you heard that the Narnia books are going to be made into a series? They’re beginning with The Magician’s Nephew, and the first episode is scheduled to come out this November (unless it’s been changed).

    Thanks for stopping by earlier.
