‘NCIS: TONY AND ZIVA’ IN THE ANTICIPATED RETURN

The long-awaited Paramount+ streaming debut drama, which is part of a bigger universe, NCIS: Tony and Ziva (also affectionately known as Tiva) is now here. Let’s see if the hype is worth the wait.

NCIS: Tony and Ziva (2025) Paramount+ Streaming Review

Leaving NCIS to raise the daughter he didn’t know he had wasn’t easy, but it was the only choice for former agent, Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). He left, moving from DC to Paris which sees him now running a successful security company. His ex, Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) isn’t his partner, personal or otherwise, but they do raise their smart and sassy daughter Tali together. They have a schedule when it comes to this and everything else, well, that is complicated.

Then Tony’s company comes under attack which forces him on the run and stepping into a role and person he never thought he’d have to be again. This also means that Talia and Ziva too are in possible danger which sends him and Ziva racing across Europe with the same goal, to protect Tali and their family.

From Comic-Con to various entertainment webzines, it doesn’t seem like there are many shows with more buzz than NCIS: Tony and Ziva. A streaming exclusive, I cannot say if fans will like how things play out in this universe (from NCIS) expansion, but I’d wager a fair shake will extend to this. Plus, no one can deny that seeing Tiva do their thing again is a well deserved story.

Watching this feels like a delightful “blast from the past” just because we get to see this couple reunite. We knew they did (off screen), and for me, knowing this is enough. Still, this adventure we see them on, well, it is a good deal of fun. The new cast includes Amita Suman; Maximilian Osinski; Lara Rossi; Nassima Benchicou; Julian Ovenden; and James D’Arcy.

The show has a great plot (it’s more spy craft), and I love that the main titular duo is back because making this work without them is impossible. It’s also proof that the creators and producers (Weatherly and Pablo EP) understand their audience. Speaking of, chances are there are some delightful easter eggs; probably things I’m missing because it’s been so very long since I would have seen the episodes featuring this love story on NCIS. (Plus the show does give us a quick recap.)

Regardless, this is still charming. To be able to catch up with Tony and Ziva, and to experience them as parents? That’s all nostalgia. There is also lots of pulse-pounding action for those who like adventure. The cherry on top is this is still something people who don’t regularly watch NCIS can enjoy too.

Stream, at publication, the first three episodes of NCIS: Tony and Ziva now on Paramount+ with weekly episode drops to come

Content: This one is TVMA which is the first time anything in this franchise has been so, well, adult. There is use of the f-word another typical profanity. There is quite a lot of violence (sometimes just threats) and tense situations. If it bothers you, a character is in a same-sex relationship. Episode three has a heavy make out scene and we see two characters undress each other; they end up in bed together and we see shots of their bare bodies.
