Rounding out the now debuting The Groomsmen trilogy is Tyler Hyne’s story as he finds love in Italy. Given this network debut, we thought it would be fun to look at the Tyler Hynes movies from Hallmark and of course, where else you may know him from.

From photographer to musician, he’s played a range of different characters. His first credited role is from the Louisa May Alcott inspired adaptation Little Men (from 1998) before he’d go on to star in an episode or two of TV shows and even appear in the early 2000s adaptation of Tales of the Neverending Story. Then for a handful of years, in addition to the TV episode appearances (including Saving Hope and Heartland), he appeared in a handful of TV films. But as Hallmark is the primary, let’s meet him as he first appeared as leading man in a Fall into Love romance.

FALLING for YOU, 2018
This is a story about a heroine looking to raise money for her radio station, which is suffering dire ratings. Part of her even is a bachelor auction which looks to fail when her bachelor backs out. Enter Hynes’ character whom she enlists to take his place in the hopes that she can still save this event!

IT’S CHRISTMAS, EVE, 2018
Back in the day this was a favorite of the Countdown to Christmas season! The movie was so fun and had a good energy since Hynes was, at the time, a newcomer who in this role co-stars with LeAnn Rimes. The plot revolves around having to shut down a music program in order to save a school.

FLIP THAT ROMANCE, 2019
Rivals who rekindle a romance is the starting point of this film which is about house flippers played by Julie Gonzalo and of course Hynes. The film is quite fun and is a more unusual concept for the network (at least at the time) and if I remember right, it’s one of the network’s most fun.

WINTER in VAIL, 2020
Starting 2020 off, the network pairs Hynes with their favorite leading lady Lacey Chabert. The setting is gorgeous and Chabert plays a woman who has inherited and meets Hynes local while she visits her new house.

ON THE 12TH DATE of CHRISTMAS, 2020
This title too is WAY fun. I loved it at the time, primarily for two reasons. Seeing Tyler Hynes (who had become a favorite in these films) and the fact that it gave spotlight to a new (for the network) leading lady in Mallory Jansen. The concept (game creators vying for a promotion that instead will connect to meeting your match) is also fun too.

IT WAS ALWAYS YOU, 2021
In the following year, Hynes had a busy year with Hallmark, and his co-stars were network “royalty,” starting with Erin Krakow in a story about a man who has a crush on his brother’s girl. I remember at the time this is one I really wanted to love and didn’t. But remembering it again, I’m thinking it may deserve a rewatch.

SWEET CAROLINA, 2021
A year later, Lacey Chabert pairs again with Tyler in this film about a woman who loses her sibling and steps up to raise her sister’s children. While there she reconnects with her high school crush.

ROADHOUSE ROMANCE, 2021
Lauren Alaina stars as the co-star of Tyler in this title where he plays a passing-through-her-hometown director with whom she clashes but in actuality may be her ideal match. This was also one I enjoyed because of Alaina (a newcomer) and just the way Tyler plays his character, the combination felt different.

AN UNEXPECTED CHRISTMAS, 2021
Like we said, 2021 was a busy year! This is another of his Christmas movies that is SO fun. It’s about a character who returns to her ex’s hometown where her ex too is visiting, and his family, believing the pair are still dating, excitedly welcome her home! Thus begins a Christmas of pretending between Hynes’ Jamie and Bethany Joy Lenz’s Emily.

In a more dramatic role, this sees Tyler Hynes playing a consultant who works with a widow named Elizabeth to try and save the restaurant her late husband loved.

THREE WISE MEN and a BABY, trilogy
This movie debuted in 2022 and is about three brothers, one of whom Hynes plays, who end up raising a baby they are unexpectedly responsible for. The film was so popular for Hallmark it had a sequel in 2024 and will wrap up what is expected to just be a trilogy this year (2025) with Three Wisest Men. The film franchise also has Paul Campbell and Andrew Walker, two of the network’s additional favorites.

NEVER BEEN CHRIS’D, 2023
Hardcore Hallmark fans seem to detest this one. I loved it. It’s a fresh concept and I love when a genre that often boxes itself in can surprise and give us something new (I crave this when I see the same faces telling a version of the same story). This Tyler Hynes Hallmark movie features him as THE crush of two class reunion attendees. Likely fans don’t like that the girls both crush on Chris (Hynes) or feel like he leads them on, but he doesn’t. The film does deliberate things to ensure this, and I admire these subtleties and how everything unfolds even if some is a little sappy!

Another unique concept, this one is about Luke, the ex of Jess a mechanic participating in a competition where he winds up being her biggest competition!

THE GROOMSMEN trilogy
This is a trio of movies that has Tyler Hynes character’s story be told in the final one ‘Last Dance.’ They all made their debut on Hallmark+ and will wrap airing on The Hallmark Channel this week. In Hynes story, his character is a divorced dad who moves to Italy to be closer to his daughter. It’s a charming and sweet movie and the only one I’ve seen of the three.
The series, is the current starring role in the Jonathan Bennett Hallmark movies list, according to a prior Hallmark press release (back in July) in part says “The Groomsmen trilogy takes viewers on the journey of a lifetime as three best friends come together to celebrate their wedding days in breathtaking destinations […]. As they navigate complex relationships with friends, love interests and family members […]. Pete (Britt), a kind-hearted pediatrician with a penchant for planning; Danny (Bennett), a baseball coach with a heart of gold; and Jackson (Hynes), a stylish and charming social media agent, lean on each other and draw strength from the bonds they share from the special brotherhood built over the years.”
Each character will have their own story through locations like Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria. These three Hallmark+ original titles are The Groomsmen, with the following subtitles:

- Last Dance – September 20 Hallmark Channel Debut
HOLIDAY TOUCHDOWN: A CHIEFS LOVE STORY, 2024
Super fun, this film was one of the network’s greatest successes of last Christmas movie season. Tyler plays a fan engagement director who ends up falling for one of the winners of their fan experience campaigns. This film also probably ranks as one of the best of the year in addition to being a personal favorite; a story likely inspired by the love story of a certain pop star and football star.

CHRISTMAS above the CLOUDS, 2025
Though Tyler hasn’t starred in anything earlier this year on Hallmark (The Groomsmen movies were from 2024 and Hallmark+ originals), he does have a new Christmas movie in this title which is set to debut in November. The film will re-team him with Erin Krakow and he’ll play the ex to Krakow’s “Ebeneezer” character in this modern A Christmas Carol retelling. Hynes will (as mentioned previously) also star in the 2025 title Three Wisest Men.

This title seems to perhaps have Tyler Hynes playing the baddie in a story inspired by real events about soldiers who witness their platoon leader commit murder. Alexander Ludwig also stars.

I love tyler hynes movies. I Haven’t seen them all , but I look forward to seeing more. My favorite is, It was Always You. An excellent actor and you can see it in his eyes. Hallmark needs to make more movies with him.
