‘BRIDE HARD’: THAT ONE CRAZY AND CHAOTIC WEDDING COMEDY

A comedy that reunites former co-stars, Bride Hard is now making its debut on a streaming platform, so finally we’re taking a closer look at this summertime release.

Bride Hard (2025) Film Review

The wedding day of Betsy (Anna Camp) is going to go off without a hitch, or it almost is. She and her bestie Sam (Rebel Wilson) are going through some seriously rough times, so much so that Betsy fires her as maid of honor. Despite this distance, Sam is going to make sure Betsy has a good time. Then, during what should be Bestsy’s best day, her destination wedding gets some unexpected (and unwanted!) gatecrashers in the form of a team of mercenaries.

This sends Sam, who is actually a secret agent, into action. But unlike most of her missions, Sam has two things she has to consider. Not only goes she have to get the guests back, she also has to protect her cover and ensure the bride’s special day still goes off without a hitch!

A movie that is quite ridiculous in many ways, Bride Hard does lean into this, but we also have a laugh or two despite this. The film is similar to something like Killers or even, minus the secret agent, the chaos of You’re Cordially Invited. The cast reunites Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp from the Pitch Perfect movies. Other similar names like Justin Hartley (from Tracker), Mark Valley and Anna Chlumsky, too.

If you like crazy chaos in comedies, then Bride Hard may be something you’ll enjoy. The movie doesn’t ask a lot of our brainpower which is nice and the plot does nothing more than entertain. The ragtag group of people fighting back is hysterical in its own fashion, and while silly in places the comedy fits with the rest of the film. That is what you’ll find in this which is very much a female centric comedy.

Stream, at publication, Bride Hard with Hulu; or digitally purchase on places like Prime Video

Content: there is innuendo and a sex joke or two. One sequence shows a group of girls in a strip place / bar where half naked men are part of the table landscape and of course, dancing too. There is some profanity (including the f-word). Plenty of violence plays into the plot which includes high powered guns and other hand-to-hand combat fights. People fall on different objects which stabs them. Lots of things explode which kills people. The film is R although for the rating, this one is relatively “tame,” boasting mostly violence as the reason for it.
