‘RIPPLE’ IS THE HEARTWARMING STORY OF FOUR STRANGERS

A new binge drop drama available on Netflix, Ripple is a heartwarming story about strangers and how one encounter can change everything.

Ripple (2025) TV Show Review

Despite their shared zip code, four strangers seem to have nothing otherwise in common. Yet what none of them realize is they have unknowingly crossed paths on more than one occasion. The challenges of life change them, and their respective decisions cause ripples no one can anticipate.

Soon, these four strangers – Walter (Frankie Faison), Kris (Julia Chan), Nate (Ian Harding) and Aria (Sydney Agudong), meet leading to connections none of them could ever anticipate.

One of those shows that, for some of us, seemed to sit in a kind of developmental stage for a while, Ripple finally makes its debut. It’s also an arrival that seems to come in on its tiptoes, which is to say, with less fanfare than others. It’s finally here though and boasting a familiar cast from favorite past TV shows, the heartwarming story is certain to delight. The show also, unexpectedly has a Christmas sequence making this drop timely and perfect.

The creator, Michele Giannusa (who serves in the additional role of EP) shared that this is a personal story. One that also is a kind of “love letter” to New York City, which is Giannusa’s hometown according to the press release. A story about connection and the strangers finding these, I did very much enjoy Ripple. There are bittersweet things that pull more from the story and sometimes allow us to deeply relate and other times these pull some tears. But this also is going to mean that we probably will be sad about some of the conclusions.

I didn’t have the time to binge the entire show (which is made up of eight episodes), but what I’m seeing does entertain. I think some of the introductions feel flurried because we aren’t sure yet who everyone is and I wonder if we’re in a present timeline or memories. The cast is really good, and for me the list is a mix of familiar and new talent which I like. I’m also glad to see Ian Harding in this after liking him in the Netflix rom-com Our Little Secret. Whatever your reaction to this (good, bittersweet or curious), if you like cozy dramas like The Way Home or even something like Virgin River, you’ll likely find this drama another winner.

    1. Hope you find some more shows to fit your The Way Home and Virgin River similar lists. I need to catch up on the latter (it’s been WAY too long since I saw that one!).
