SEVEN OF THE MORE UNIQUE 2025 CHRISTMAS MOVIES
For the past three or so years, it’s become a kind of tradition to feature and talk about Christmas movies beyond just the numerous reviews we post, and let’s be honest, there are a lot of those! One of the features I like to put together is a list of the more unique Christmas movies, in this case in the 2025 year. Honestly, as of this draft writing, I haven’t really seen unique Christmas movies. However, at the same time, there is an entire string of popular titles yet to air and so I’m hopeful that I just haven’t seen the movies yet. (Edited to add, this turned out to be partially the case!) No matter what, I’m sure there will be some to enjoy that we can find more unique, and so that’s the goal of this list publication.
LIST | THE BEST AND SILLIEST CHRISTMAS MOVIE MOMENTS PART SEVEN
SEVEN OF THE MORE UNIQUE 2025 CHRISTMAS MOVIES. Looking through all of the #ChristmasMovies I’ve seen to choose some of the ones that are most unique! #ChristmasMovie Share on XThe offerings of the year (so far) have taken us to wholesome football field and glamourous Paris, had newscasters as heroes and doctors as heroines and so much between. Keeping all of this in mind, let’s see if we can gather some of the titles (nearly 100 across streaming and network TV, more if you consider the ones that drop on free streamers) that fit our “unique” criteria, which let’s be honest, isn’t complicated. Some of the things I do consider when making this list includes the following.
The parameters for qualifying a title as “unique” don’t require a lot. Most of these films still indulge in the usual festiveness, cliché-ish tropes and go over the top on more than one thing, but they do possess something (a different way of the first kiss, a plot we haven’t seen 500 times, or maybe even just how they come together) that makes them stand out – even if just a little bit. I’ve seen over thirty titles, so not all 100 (obviously) but hey, one can only watch so much. Presenting the 2025 candidates!

Listed from a-z
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS
If you want more sparkly romance, I think this is the one pick that stands out. Is it super unique? Perhaps not, but it has the more traditional romance elements and is entertaining too. It’s about an exec who travels to Paris for work, and the night before her meeting, she “lets go” and spends the night discovering Paris only to discover this choice may complicate everything. The meet cute is in a bookstore so that earns this one points, too!

CHRISTMAS above the CLOUDS
This one is a reimagining of A Christmas Carol which I am very weary of, but this one, though perhaps at the end of my “most unique” titles, is way better than I thought it’d be. It’s set primarily into the clouds and has Erin Krakow playing scrooge and Tyler Hynes as the ex she reunites with. I think what makes this one stand out is the contradictory personalities. Krakow plays Ella very scrooge-like (obviously) and Hynes brings his signature laid-back nature to the role which makes their interactions fun.

A KELLER CHRISTMAS VACATION
This one was hyped for a while because of the cast it ensembles (Jonathan Bennet, Brandon Routh, Eden Sher) and it was a fun time. I think some things we could have done without OR if they were going to be here, we should have had less of something else, but still, the movie is fun. Its primary focus is a sibling relationship and there is plenty of laughs, plus while I did expect it, the ending does surprise a little bit.

JINGLE BELL HEIST
This one is so unique (by comparison to the small town settings or girl returns home tropes) in the line up of Christmas movies. It may be silly as far as concept is concerned, but it brought me back to the oldie Stealing Christmas which I watched 101 times as a kid. This one is about two people struggling who end up planning a heist together, albeit one with more than one flaw.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, TED COOPER!
Kimberley Sustad leads this one as a woman who reconnects with an old high school classmate and the story of their differing personalities. The concept is fun, but like a couple others I saw this year, it does play into the overdramatic of a breakup scenario which does make this one a tiny bit less unique in my viewfinder.

SINGLE on the 25th
Something about this one stands out and is, for the most part, one of the most unique in the whole season. The end has a bit of breakup dramatics, but I think this script gives more weight to the reason and I can respect it when this happens. I loved the friendship and relationship that forms, and I think for the time there is, this one does a great job with everything. Despite the title, this one also has one of the better (feels more authentic) romances, too.

WE MET in DECEMBER
I loved this one. In fact before Single on the 25th, it was my favorite of the year so far. Niall Matter and Autumn Reeser star as a couple who meet and liking each other, they try to find each other after they neglect to exchange information during their magical night spent talking.

BONUS! A MAKE or BREAK HOLIDAY
Adding this one preemptively shall we say since it debuts this weekend. However, this one does feel as though it could be super unique and fun. Its plot is about a couple who decide to spilt only they don’t share this change with their families and so over Christmas they must pretend to be a happy couple. Sounds sort of like Hallmark’s An Unexpected Christmas which I also loved.

I don’t have Hallmark so I unfortunately couldn’t see any of those movies. They sounded very good! I did see Champagne Problems, and Jingle Bell Heist, and really enjoyed both of those!
The Netflix ones you mention are cute! I need to watch Jingle Bell Heist again because I think it was the most unique of all their offerings this year. :)
