Back for a year 11 series which will also be its final, Grantchester returns to tell a unique and charming story about more cozy sleuthing and of course, human connection, too.

Grantchester, Series 11 (2026) PBS TV Show Review

A fundraiser using American culture as its inspiration is currently bringing all of Grantchester out to a drive-in movie. Among the guests is local vicar, Alphy Kottaram (Rishi Nair). Despite his personal crises, he keeps busy in the hope that he may forget his own troubles. But then one of their largest donors is found murdered and the interrogation room brings more than one suspect to its door.

Together with DI Geordie Keating (Robson Green), Alphy makes the effort to ensure the real murderer is charged. Elsewhere, the growing pains of being business owners challenge Cathy (Kasey Ainsworth) and Mrs. C (Tessa Peake-Jones), and Leonard (Al Weaver) continues to explore what he wants next in life.

Eleven years we have been with these characters. Eleven years we have been exploring the cozy village of Grantchester. As the show closes out these years with the start of this season, episode one has everyone making different decisions, keeping secrets, flirting with (perhaps) bad things and going through crisis of faith. The show usually comes out right, and given this is the final year, I am hopeful this one will be no different.

Still, the way this one sets up and the underlying things that at first glance seem unimportant (but we know will creep back) do make a person worry. The returning cast is, yet again, wonderful and we love seeing them return. It’s been great to get to know this last vicar, Alphy, and I’m glad that I finally binged all the episodes telling his story. Some of the characters do go to dark places and I’m really not here for this because I want them all to be happy, however if they all find this, it will all be worth it. And having watched all ten seasons of this show, well, I know there is good storytelling here.

With familiar faces and still some pockets of coziness, series 11 of Grantchester is emotionally good. There is humor (I dare you not to laugh at the innocence of Mrs. C. and her sausage remark), and we love the dry wit of it all. If you have seen the other seasons or you are looking for something new, consider adding this one to your list. It’s a great one. There are so many pockets of joy amidst the troublesome choices that challenge the characters.

THE EPISODES MASTERPIECE: Grantchester – Season 11

• Episodes 1 – 3 airs on PBS June 14, 21, and 28
• Episodes 4 – 7 airs on PBS July 5, 12, 19 and 26
• The Finale, episode 8, airs on PBS August 2

Content: this series has much the same type of content as prior seasons. There is a bit of innuendo here and there (someone spends the night with someone they barely know) and one character (if this bothers you) is in a same-sex relationship. There are murder victims and while not normally graphic, there are always bodies. The deaths occur in different manners.
