Fangirl Confessions | Avengers and an ‘Endgame’ is Here!

As I sit here writing this, I am wearing a Marvel t-shirt and in the aftermath of the ‘Endgame’ trailer, am wondering, what’s next?

To be fair, Marvel has teased for a while now that the end of “phase 1” would be dark… and shed blood. But my little fangirl heart still hoped this didn’t mean the end for all of these characters. Who am I kidding? I’m still hopeful the writers and actors (some of whom have said this is their last Marvel role) will take me by surprise.

Late last week, the trailer for Avengers: Endgame dropped which not only was a first look glimpse at the film, but also the reveal of the subtitle. Despite the fact several days have elapsed between now and then, I cannot help but share my reaction, and the trailer.

Avengers Endgame Trailer

Spoiler-y thoughts based on the trailer ahead.

1: The opening scene? Heartbreaking. “Part of the journey is the end,” and “It’s always you…” No, Marvel. Just no!

2: Why does the first trailer already have Steve in full-on-will-likely-sacrifice-himself mode!?

3: Um, Hawkeye… what are you doing? (If I had to guess, I’d say off screen, he suffered a terrible loss in the wake of Thanos’ terror.)

3: Steve and Natasha… again, just no! Why must this scene (for what, 10 seconds!?) already promise despair.

4: Thank goodness for the appearance of Scott in the final seconds. He always adds a bit of levity. But will he be the real Scott?

“…I know it is, ‘cuz I don’t know what I’m going to do if it doesn’t.” – Steve Rogers
