Fan-Girl Discussion: Is the #TS7 Era on its Way?

In the last few months, something has been changing on Taylor Swift’s Instagram page. She transitioned from dark and moody (as was her Reputation era) to lighter colors, girly aesthetics, and pretty in pink filters. (This is the person that we once knew Taylor to be aka the presumed TS7 era.) Now, this could merely be to follow the shift in season, but as we all know: nothing Taylor does is random.

In the recent weeks, Taylor began to post photos with a single caption: 4.26. Apart from it being a date on the calendar, this put fans into a frenzy with the basic question of: what does this mean?!

Entertainment sources have done segments on this Instagram shift, and when you Google the pop star’s name, there’s no shortage of theory articles. So, here’s the question, what does this change in T-Swift’s Instagram and webpage countdown mean?

Is it a countdown to a new album announcement or something else altogether?

Given that Taylor did sign with a new record label last year (Reputation marks her last release with her long-time label, Big Machine Records), it seems likely that April 26th is not related to the release of the new Marvel film, but will indeed mark the release of a new single, and possibly the announcement of a new album. That said, the one thing that lingers in the back of my mind is this would be less than two years since Taylor released her last album. But again, with the new label, the usual timetable is likely to be reset and a new precedence set. Plus, US Weekly has a story that claims a Swift rep tells them that the 26th will be about new music.

No matter what the announcement is, I’d be lying if I said I don’t hope Friday brings with it new Taylor Swift music. But at the same time, I’m cautiously optimistic given that the last time Taylor released music, we didn’t have this much lead time.

This Swift fan is still hopeful that TS7 is on its way.

To close out this post, I thought I’d do a quick “ranking” of the Taylor Swift albums. As a disclaimer, I like all of Taylor’s albums, and this ranking is based more on how I liked the album “as a whole” or inspired by the number of “repeat favorites.”

6: Speak Now | I adore so many tracks off this album, but overall, I think it fits best in my “collective” last place ranking.

5: Taylor Swift | Because who doesn’t still remember the iconic single, ‘Tim McGraw.’

4: Fearless | The title track off this one is fun, ‘Hey Stephen’ still makes me smile, and ‘Love Story’ is still one of my favorites.

3: Reputation | I like this one more and more each time I listen to it, though it

2: Red | The start of a new era for Taylor Swift, this song features some hefty, but impressive writing.

1: 1989 | Not only was this Taylor first full-length foray into pop, it’s also her first “adult” album. The more I listen to this one, the more I love it.

  1. I enjoyed listening to Me and look forward to hearing Taylor Swift’s new album. I liked all her other albums from before so I’ll probably like the next one and whatever theme it will have.
