‘As Easy as Cherry Pie’: A Sweet Little Indie Romance

STORY | Dreams (and a good supply of sugar!) is what keeps Maggie Pellen running. Ever since she received an inheritance, she’s ran her small pie shop, Pellen’s Perfect Pies. She’s fulfilled and busier than she knows how to deal with, including custom wedding orders she didn’t plan on. Her greater dream is to expand her shop, but with tight finances, she doesn’t know how or if this is possible. Then, along comes Fletcher Knight. as easy as cherry pie

Trying to build his own business as a contractor, Fletcher harbors a crush on Maggie, and has since the first time they went on a semi-disastrous first date. But when it appears Maggie doesn’t hold the same feelings, Fletcher respects her and doesn’t pursue anything more. Now he sees this job as the chance to make a second – better, first impression.

As Easy as Cherry Pie by Bell Renshaw | Book Review

REVIEW | Anytime I pick up a novel by Bell Renshaw, I know it’s going to be a good time. This, her fifth publication, is no different. As Easy as Cherry Pie is a charming and quaint small town romance that features characters from her first novel (in the Justin Harbor series) and allows us to get to know Maggie as a determined businesswoman and as a woman who wishes for a happy end.

The love story is too charming. The characters are already unique on their own, but together, there’s really no other choice but to root these two on. They’re darling. I also have to confess to having a soft spot for Fletcher. His adorable nerd/geek personality is so endearing, and the relationship he has with his brother adds more layers to his personality.

BOOK REVIEW | As Easy as Riding a Bike – Sweethearts Reunite in Small Town

When all is said and done, this is without question one of 2020’s most charming contemporary romance novels. If you like romances with a solid sense of community, you’ll like this one. It’s short in page number (but with more length than a novella), but it makes use of each one and pulls the reader along on the best kind of story.
