Though this film “screams” autumn with its colors and wardrobe, the island setting makes for pretty scenery and allows us to “meet” a new face on the Hallmark network in Love on Harbor Island.
Love on Harbor Island (2020) Hallmark Review
Interior design has been a passion of Lily’s since she can remember, even back when she was a small child. Now, as an adult living in Seattle and working at a firm, Lily (Morgan Kohan) believes she’s ready to take the next step and get a promotion. When her plans fall through, she must suddenly return home to Harbor Island to help her beloved aunt recover from a fall.
While home, Lily helps to run the inn that means so much her and she also meets Marcus (Marcus Rosner), a pilot with a pet project that needs a little TLC, something Lily just may have a bit of expertise in.
The second that falls in the ‘Summer Nights’ line up, this film is anything but a summer setting. Actually it’s better suited as a lead-in or part of their autumn titles, but still, it’s cute. There are lots of fun aspects that stack up to a cute little romantic-comedy. Things like some pretty scenery; a festival; a quaint inn; and of course, characters who are easy to like.
FILM REVIEW | ‘Summer Catch’: First Love in the Summertime
It’s nice to see Rosner return to leading man status (he plays opposite Jen Lilley in Yes, I Do back in 2018). Plus, like always, when we get to see a new face on the network (or newer), things are more interesting, too. Morgan Kohan is a part of the When Calls the Heart spin-off series Where Hope Calls, but from what I can see, she hasn’t appeared in any Hallmark films. This film is actually a Reel One production that the network bought to add on their latest seasonal line up.
Like anything you encounter in most TV romances, Love on Harbor Island is cute. There’s some scenes that just don’t cut it for me (because of their over-the-top sappiness), but it’s still one of those easy to relax and watch kind of movies that will leave you smiling.
