‘A Welcome Home Christmas’ Feels like a Good Time Story
Like any other film, anything that is good to the military is a story that immediately piques my curiosity. This Lifetime seasonal offering approaches it from a new (at least what I’ve seen) angle, and mostly, this does work. a welcome home christmas
A Welcome Home Christmas (2020) Lifetime TV Film Review
Doing everything that needs doing is what Chloe (Jana Kramer) does best. She volunteers her time with nearly any organization that needs volunteers, and she heads up more than one charitable event like food drives. This is all well and good except it spreads her time thin and doesn’t allow much for her real job which is counseling returning veterans. But it turns out, her latest case assignment just may be an assist for her.
Michael (Brandon Quinn) is a recently honorably discharged veteran who, despite his insistence, is having a bit of trouble adjusting to civilian life. But as luck would have it, Michael too appreciates the value of volunteer work, and so, Chloe wastes little time putting him in charge of the toy drive, a task they end up working together on.
DISCUSSION | HOW I RANK THE 2020 LIFETIME CHRISTMAS ROMANCE, PART 2
‘A Welcome Home Christmas’ Feels like a Good Time Story. A review of the 2020 Lifetime romance with Jana Kramer. #Movies #ChristmasMovies #Romance #CleanRomance Share on XAs I keep “on repeat” saying for these types of films, A Welcome Home Christmas requires the same kind of turn of phrase and words attributed to it. The way the military is approached is different from most I see, and while nothing ever becomes “heavy,” it does highlight some more emotional issues. I do have a couple minor issues with the film however.
One is the Santa Claus storyline. I don’t know why this rubs me the wrong way, but I think partly this is because I have long been “over” the whole Santa realism trope for a long time now. Or maybe I just don’t like how this part of the story comes out. This also ties into the “miracle” thread which feels like one too many. As I watched this, I also realized I don’t think I’m overly fond of Jana Kramer as an actress. She’s not bad by any means, but there’s something about her that I don’t love or perhaps I simply haven’t seen her take on “her” role just yet. (Charlene Tilton also overplays the mother.) I cannot recall seeing Quinn in anything else, but I like him. a welcome home christmas
Like previously said, this is another sweet and fun seasonal flick to enjoy. There’s the usual band of side characters, festive cheer and of course, the normal amount of second glances and longing looks. I appreciate any film that gives due to the military and as a result, I did enjoy this film.
