‘A MACHU PICCHU PROPOSAL’: THE ONE THAT IS A LITTLE TOO SIMILAR
The final (new) Hallmark debut for a bit, A Machu Picchu Proposal marks another final which is the last in their Passport to Paris flicks. We visit new places this week in a story that just doesn’t go to plan for its heroine, Katie (Rhiannon Fish). She has grand (scheduled) plans on her trip to Machu Picchu which she was talked into by her brother. You see, he has big plans, which include proposing to the love of his life, and Katie is here to help to ensure this goes off without a hitch. Then, things happen. His spontaneous proposal doesn’t go as planned and Katie determines to fix this.
As she tries to accomplish this, it may require help from Carlos (Alec Santos), a chef who sort of ruined her brother’s proposal, to help her find the best do-over spot in Machu Picchu. What could go wrong?

As I say 100 x 100 times about the TV comedy movie, this film is cute. But this one lacks because it’s very similar not just to another Hallmark film, but more specifically to another that features Rhiannon Fish in the lead role. Fish still always plays a likeable character and she always plays them well. This Katie is no different. She’s spunky, which is an admirable trait and, in this case, her determination is well meaning.
Trivia says A Machu Picchu Proposal did film in Peru, which is nice because the gorgeous scenery is real rather than scenic places meant to mimic a locale. So this is a nice pro for the story that Juliana Wimbles pens, a writer (and actress) who has penned titles like Love in the Maldives and two others with Rhiannon as lead.
Not a favorite of mine, the film is still sweet (which is where we started), and the film has likable characters. I enjoyed (though I don’t think viewer ratings reflect this) Villa Amore a good deal more, but there is beauty in this title, too.

Content: this TV-G film is the standard TV movie. It has the usual kiss here and there.
