10 OF BOOKS ON MY BOOKSHELF SURE TO MAKE YOU SMILE (HOPEFULLY)

September 6, 2021 Rissi JC 22 Comments

We all likely can admit that one of our favorite kinds of reads is books that will make you smile. Or at least I know this is true of the kinds of books I love. I love a book that will make me smile or better yet, even make you laugh. Today we get the chance to spotlight some books that make us laugh because it’s fun. Let’s get into it.

LIST | FIVE REASONS WHY I DO (& DON’T) LIKE ‘MISS SCARLET & THE DUKE’

So since I’m not reading much these days, what I’m doing is breaking this up in two sections. The first is the books I’ve read and they, for me, inspire smiles. The second section is books on my shelf that I hope will make me smile. So, here we go, let’s have a look.

1: JO & LAURIE, MELISSA DE LA CRUZ & MARGARET STOHL

Just one of those comforting kind of reads that I really didn’t know I needed. Amazon | Goodreads

2: THE UPSIDE OF FALLING, ALEX LIGHT

Super cute and simple (which I mean in the best way possible), this YA rom-com is a favorite in its genre. Amazon | Goodreads

3: THE LIFE (AND MEDIEVAL) TIMES OF KIT SWEETLEY, JAMIE PACTON

This one is just dang cute and one I really did quite enjoy! But then I know, I’ve already said this quite a lot. Amazon | Goodreads

4: [ANYTHING] KASIE WEST

Kasie’s books are always a ray of sunshine. Currently I’m reading one of her books now and it’s darling. Amazon | Goodreads

5: A TASTE FOR LOVE, JENNIFER YEN

A loose re-telling of Pride & Prejudice, I did take some issue with a few things about this one, but it’s mostly cuute. Amazon | Goodreads

BOOKS THAT I HOPE WILL MAKE ME SMILE

1: DESIGN ON A CRIME, GINNY AIKEN

This one has been on my shelf for a long time and now I even have it in an unhaul box. Still, it looks like it could be fun; follows an interior designer who gets caught up in a murder. Amazon | Goodreads

2: DON’T DATE ROSA SANTOS, NINA MORENO

Another that has been on my shelf for a while. Not sure why, but I haven’t made time for this one despite it looking so cute. Our main character believes she’s “cursed” in her dating life. Amazon | Goodreads

3: THE TOURIST ATTRACTION, SARAH MORGENTHALER

This one just sounds like so much fun! Not sure if it will be, but it sounds it. Amazon | Goodreads

4: SUNNY SONG WILL NEVER BE FAMOUS, SUZANNE PARK

Follows a girl (an influencer) who is sent away for a digital detox. Add a farm (in Iowa!?) and the chicken on the cover art, and this one screams smiles. Amazon | Goodreads

5: [ANYTHING] EMILY WIBBERLEY

Ok, so here’s the thing. I read one of Emily’s and Austin’s co-written books and didn’t 100% love it. However I have some of their others because the covers just look so cheerful which makes me believe (or just be hopeful?) that possibly the stories inside could (or should?) make its reader smile! Amazon | Goodreads

Ok, now to you! Which of these have you read? Do any of these make you smile? Do you want to read any of these? What types of books make you smile? Let’s chat all the happy kind of reading!

It’s such fun! I don’t think Jamie’s book (from this year) sounds good (in the way of this one), but I’m glad I read Kit’s story. :) Thanks so much for visiting, Michael.

I have heard of Katie West, but don’t think I have read any of her books (yet). I loved Pepper Basham’s The Mistletoe Countess, it was full of good laughs.
