THE BOOKS I WAS EXCITED TO FINALLY FIND IN MY MAILBOX (BUT DIDN’T READ!)

by

So many books on my shelf are titles I was extremely excited to read… but alas, still haven’t. Finding the time to read them is often beyond my grasp or perhaps not so much finding time as is the fact that I just don’t read them. While reading them may not be something I do, spotlighting and celebrating them all is still something I can do. So it’s time to celebrate the books I was excited to buy, but yet didn’t read.

I’m not sure which books I’ll find. Not because I don’t have a million and one books on my shelf that fit this category, however, I’d like to try and find the books I was excited to buy (but haven’t read!) that I don’t feature here time and again.

BOOKS I WAS EXCITED TO BUY BUT HAVEN’T READ

THE LITTLE LADY AGENCY, HESTER BROWNE

This is one of those books that I was curious about since I adore Browne’s The Runaway Princess, I really want to read more by her, but alas, have not done so. Goodreads

THE DATING CHARADE, MELISSA FERGUSON

Long before she became a best-selling author, I was extremely excited to read this debut by Melissa. Have I read it? Nope. Should I? Of course! What I have heard is that the cover art, which seems sort of romance-y and fun, really is a bit deceptive since Melissa’s novels are more women’s fiction. Goodreads

AMERICAN ROYALS, KATAHRINE MCGEE

At one time I was really excited to read this one. Though I didn’t love The Thousandth Floor, also by this author, so should I still give this one a chance? Goodreads

THE LONDON RESTORATION, RACHEL MCMILLAN

One of those books that’s been on some of my written seasonal TBRs at various point, it’s also a book I haven’t read. But its plot is one I’m curious to discover, so I hope to read it still. Goodreads books i was excited to buy

WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI, SENDAYA MENON

Back in the day, this was THE book to get thanks to booktube or social media. Of course I did, but never read it. Is it still worth giving a chance? Goodreads

KISS ME IN PARIS, CATHERINE RIDER

I’m actually still really excited about this one because I read Kiss Me in New York, and did enjoy it. It stands to reason I’d enjoy this one, too, right!? Goodreads

TURN TO ME, BECKY WADE

Love Becky’s novels, and that some of them tackle really interesting and complex subjects, too. Goodreads

THE LOST ART OF REVERIE, RAE WALSH

I really haven’t a clue what motivated me to pick up this indie published novel, but I’m pretty sure I was influenced by someone’s book list that included this one. That or I was swayed by its pretty cover, which we know is 100% a possibility. Goodreads

BORROW MY HEART and PLACES WE’VE NEVER BEEN, KASIE WEST

Anything by Kasie is something I’m excited for. However since I am basically caught up on her novels, the fact that I own two of her novels and haven’t read them, well, that’s a surprise. Goodreads

  1. I’ve read and enjoyed 3 of these! Those by Rachel McMillan, Melissa Ferguson, and Becky Wade. While I liked The Dating Charade a lot (yes it leans toward women’s fic but still has a romance plot), The Cul-de-Sac War is my fav out of the books I’ve read by her.

I hope you find or take time to read some of these soon!

    1. I have The Cul-de-Sac War, too, Courtney! Excited about most of Melissa’s, but I think The Dating Charade was the first I bought. Now I’m even more curious about your favorite. ;) Becky always writes a good story and I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read by Rachel, too!

    1. I know this feeling all too well, Aimee. I too have cleaned up my TBR (my shelf though not GR), and I need to do this again. Sometimes if I’ve had a book on my shelf for so long, it just feels like the best idea to unhaul it. Like you say, sometimes we don’t have interest anymore and other times, I like to think someone will get the book who will actually read and enjoy it versus it just sitting on my shelf. :)

  2. I enjoyed The Dating Charade, Turn to Me, and The London Restoration. I hope you can get to some of these books soon! I wonder why it is so hard to get to certain books…they look great, they sound great, but they just sit on my Kindle.

    1. For me, it’s just that I don’t sit down and start to read. I’m hoping to read My Lady Jane this week (which is another I’ve had forever) because Amazon adapted it as a series. I’m glad to know what your favorites are! Makes me more excited to know readers enjoyed these. :)

    1. Thanks, Lindsey! And that’s good to know. I’m thinking a novel like ‘Dimple’ may be one I unhaul next time. I mean, it sounds cute, but when you have books for this long and don’t read them, that has to mean something, right!? ;)

    1. This is a feeling I know ALL too well, Pam! I think I read The Sun is Also a Star a while back, but haven’t seen the movie. I hope you enjoy it once you finally read the book, Pam. :)

    1. Hope you enjoy Melissa’s and Becky’s more recent novels. :) I have enjoyed the books I read by Becky, so I’m always eager to read her novels. Thanks for visiting, Lisa!

    1. I too enjoy Kasie’s novels, in part, because they’re fast reads. That’s my favorite kind of book! Glad it’s still cute, and I get that. I have favorites from authors too even though I tend to enjoy all from the favorites. :) Thanks for visiting, Susan!

  3. I’ve read the Kasie West books and loved them! I also borrowed The Dating Charade from the library and had it for a couple of months (renewed a few times!) before I had to return it and I still haven’t read it! I hope you manage to get to these soon and that you enjoy them!

    1. I enjoyed Kasie’s books too. Or those I’ve read I have. Hoping Melissa’s are good read too since I’ve heard so much good about them. :)
