FUN AND FABULOUS IS ‘SUNKISSED,’ A GOOD SUMMER TIME READ

by

STORY: Avery is a responsible, sensible girl according to her father. Tired of the distinction and feeling alone as summer begins, Avery’s friendship with her best friend is in tatters. To compound things, her parents take her and her sister, Lauren, to a remote vacation spot where there’s no – gasp! – WiFi. This causes Avery more trouble as she realizes there’s no chance she’ll hear from or be tempted to make good her friendship.

SUNKISSED, KASIE WEST | BOOK REVIEW

REVIEW: Anyone knows novels by Kasie West are favorites. Her books always have this sunny quality that some readers aren’t fond of. Meanwhile, I’m over here wishing MORE authors would take this kind of approach to storytelling. This 2021 novel from Kasie West does put out a different appearance with its unusual (for West) cover art, but the story inside remains the same.

BOOK REVIEW | ‘A TASTE FOR LOVE’: SWEET BAKES, CUTE BOYS AND JANE AUSTEN!

There are lots of summery feels and sweet rom-com moments, too. There are good characters and characters we have to wonder about their motives (just not in a life or death kind of way). Avery is a solid character who’s hesitance and treatment of her best friend does have weight. Plus the story of finding her voice (figurative and literal) and the cute actions that allow her to do this make the story fun. The romance is also darling (as usual) and I like the sister relationship in the novel as well. If you like novels that have parents, you’ll also appreciate this novel.

If you enjoy other of Kasie West novels, you’ll appreciate and enjoy Sunkissed. It’s darling and sweet, and will allow you to hang onto summer, even if only for just a few more days.
