POP CULTURE NEWS: EDITION SIX (UPCOMING MOVIES AND GAC NEWS!)

Hey, hey! It’s Friday and in this part of the Interwebs, this means one thing, it’s time for a new pop culture news edition six. Yes, that’s right I’ve been doing this for six weeks, and I’m a little shocked to be honest. But let’s do some Internet trolling and see what we can find, shall we?

LIST | 14 SPOOKY (BUT NOT REALLY) ALL HALLOWS EVE MOVIES TO WATCH

There’s just a few stories I gathered today! Some weeks I seem to find several, and others it’s a slim finding. The latter is true of this week because, well, I just couldn’t find much. Which stories did you see this week?

POP CULTURE NEWS: EDITION SIX

1: ABC FULL ORDERS

The Wonder Years and Home Economics are on full season orders now. The latter is one I’ve seen several episodes. It’s not my favorite sitcom, but the antics between the siblings are funny.

2: AMAZON TO RE-TEAM ‘JUMANJI’ DUO

Dwayne Johnson is re-teaming with Jumanji director, Jake Kasdan (which was a monster monetary success) for an Amazon Studios picture described as a “holiday” production. The movie is described as a “globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe within the holiday genre.” What do you think? Even if we are excited about it, the reports say it wouldn’t be available until 2023, which in my mind is one of those, why-do-we need-to-know-about-it-yet questions.

3: GAC IS NEW HOME FOR POPULAR HALLMARK STAR

News broke this past week that Danica McKellar, who is famous for her many romantic-comedies (both Christmas and non), is leaving Hallmark for the newly re-formed network GAC. According to one outlet, the actress will be starring in four, along with co-executive produce, new films. The first is already titled The Winter Palace (in early 2022). There’s also speculation (but it may just be that) that other stars could join the network, and Jen Lilley is already starring in a GAC Christmas film this year, as we included on our GAC movie schedule.

What’s your thought on this? Are you excited, and will you “follow” McKellar over on this network?

4: MEET BARBIE

News has been around for a long time that there would be a live-action film chronicling the adventures of the popular Mattel character, Barbie. Margot Robbie has long been cast in the Gerta Gerwig film, but now, this past week, news broke that Ryan Gosling is in final talks to star as Ken. I guess there’s been some chatter and debate on social media about his casting. I’m curious, what do you think or do you have a “couldn’t care less” attitude?

5: NBC HAS A NEW LIVE MUSICAL

Harry Connick Jr. takes on the role of Oliver Warbucks in NBC’s new upcoming live musical, Annie. Co-starring alongside him is Taraji P. Henson, Nicole Scherzinger, Tituss Burgess and Jane Krakowski. Plus, adorable newcomer Celina Smith as the titular character. The live event is set to air on December 2. Will you be watching?

Your input time! Which of these stories are you more curious about? Would you watch a live-action Barbie film? What do you think of the Hallmark news? Comment all of your thoughts down below!
