POP CULTURE NEWS SEVENTY TWO
Hallmark will drop its second new show of the year, Ride, on March 26. This is right on the heels of their finale for The Way Home. This new series will follow a “multigenerational family drama following the lives of the McMurrays, part of a rodeo dynasty going back a generation, as they struggle to keep their beloved ranch afloat.”
There was a lot of chatter early in the week about Sunday’s Grammy award show. I didn’t watch it and didn’t ever plan to so I’m very who-cares about it. But I did take a look at the red-carpet fashion and gathered a few in a post just because.
After retiring for good this last season, Tom Brady will reportedly begin a career as a broadcaster in fall of 2024 on Fox.
There’s news about upcoming Great American Family movies. One is a Christmas 2023 movie which will feature Lori Loughlin. The other news is two upcoming films with Trevor Donovan. The plot for the first romantic comedy isn’t known, but what is revealed is the film being about a “teacher headed to his hometown in Texas … and maybe to a love he has searched for all of his life.” Additionally, he will be using the skills he learning while competing on Dancing with the Stars.
Penn Badgley, currently starring in Netflix’s You, revealed something that is making headlines today. In an episode of his podcast, Podcruched, he says he “asked Sera Gamble, the creator of the show: Can I just do no more intimacy scenes?” He says that this was something and “a decision I’d make before I took the show. I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it publicly, but one of the main things was, like, do I want to put myself back on a career path where I’m just always the romantic lead?” Getting more personal with his comments, he went on to discuss being married (since 2017) and how “fidelity in every relationship, and especially my marriage, is really important to me. It just got to a point where I don’t want to do that.” All interesting comments and something I think any actor can and should do if they believe it’s important. There’s rarely a story (if any) that I’ve seen that is impactful and propelled positively by any type of graphic “intimacy.”
Vanessa Hudgens is, according to her social media, engaged to MLB star Cole Tucker.
According to his Twitter, Tim Allen will return as Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story 5.
FX and BBC will release stateside the latest adaptation of Great Expectations on Hulu March 26. The primary three characters are played by Olivia Colman, Fionn Whitehead and Shalom Brune-Franklin.
Finally, this is Super Bowl weekend, but if the game isn’t your thing, check out our list of Football movies you could watch instead. There’s the 2023 edition or the 2021 installment.
