A VERY COLORFUL BUT UNLIKELY TO BE READ MINI SPRING 2022 TBR

Hello, book friends! It’s been a while since I wrote a bookish list and as spring is quite literally knocking on the door (on the calendar if not any other way), we reach our spring 2022 TBR conversation. There’s no secret that I rarely if ever read right now. This is juxtaposed of different reasons. Some ok, and some not ok. But whatever the ultimate reason, I’m leaning into not forcing myself. When it comes to reading, I think that’s the best and I think I’ll find that groove again. Someday.

LIST | 16 (MORE!) IRISH ROMANCE MOVIES YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT

Since I did read about six chapters in a book last week (the most I’ve read in months), I did think it may be fun to look at some books I would enjoy reading if I were to start feeling the reader siren again. Most of these I’ll try to include with a more practical purpose. Meaning they aren’t just because they’re on my shelf. But rather books that I have reason to need to read. So, let’s look at our really small list this week.

SPRING 2022 TBR NOVELS

1: TEXT FOR YOU, SOPHIE CRAMER

I just added this to my shelf because again it too will be adapted which is a good reason to read. It was a German (I think novel) that has been released in the U.S. and follows a woman trying to heal from her fiancé’s death only to text his number and find the person at the other end is curious about the woman texting him. 2: ALONG FOR THE RIDE, SARAH DESSEN

About to be a Netflix adaptation, this seems like the most ideal time to finally read a novel by Dessen. If you can believe it, this lover of contemporary romance novels has read a big fat zero of her novels. Not sure if this is “the” title to start with, but it does sound cute. Plus I’m just hear for a silly but cute YA adaptation to maybe fill some of the holes of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Goodreads

3: ALL THE RIGHT REASONS, BETHANY MANGLE

This YA novel is the one I did start to read. It’s cute so far and I say this having not read very far into this one. Yet. Here’s hoping I persist in flipping the pages on this novel about a teen girl who’s video venting about her dad goes viral on social media – and opens doors for she and her mother. Goodreads

4: ONE TRUE LOVES, TAYLOR JENKINS REID

One of the most talked of authors in the secular fiction world, and author of the EXTREMELY popular Daisy Jones and the Six, rumor has it this has been adapted and will release sometime this year. As it is the one book I own from her, it seems now is as good a time as any to read this novel about a woman torn between her fiancé and the sudden reappearance of a husband she thought was dead. Goodreads

5: UNTIL LEAVES FALL IN PARIS, SARAH SUNDIN

Sent to me by the publisher, I’m always curious about any WWII historical by Sundin. I wasn’t quite as much of a fan of her last novel just because I didn’t fully love the hero. That said I’ve zero doubt this will affect finding future favorites from her. Goodreads

  1. Text for You sounds like something I’d like to watch the film of. My reading was going swimmingly, but then doomscrolling struck again and I’ve been so distracted by Ukraine. I just want to bury my mind in imaginary worlds, why won’t my brain cooperate?!

    1. I know the feeling of a brain not cooperating when it comes to reading, Ellie. I’ve been in this place for MONTHS now. I haven’t read a single book in ’22 and really, barely read anything for probably the last four months of ’21. *sigh* We’ll find that again! :) Hope you enjoy “Text for You” if you see the film. I think it sounds fun. :)

    1. Glad to hear this, Greg! Hope I enjoy hers if I get to it. Anytime there’s an adaptation, I’m reminded “Oh, right! I own that one.” :D

  2. I’ve heard some great things about All the Right Reasons and I’ve had One True Loves on my TBR for what feels like ages, but then again, I’m still working my way through TJR’s backlog cos I absolutely love her writing and stories 😍 I hope you get in the reading mood for at least one or two of these (if not all)!

    1. Thanks – and me too, Dini! Glad to know All the Right Reasons has some hype. It’s been fun (so far) and someday here’s hoping we BOTH manage to read One True Loves. Sure does sound interesting! :)

    1. I agree. “Text for You” sounds like it has a surface “cute” plot, but definitely some more emotional storytelling too. Thanks – and me too! Appreciate you taking the time to visit, Cindy, as always.

  3. I think not forcing yourself to read is a good idea – I hope you get back into the reading swing of things soon! One True Loves is not my favorite TJR book, but everything she does is good, so I hope you enjoy it if you do get a chance to read it soon!

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on One True Loves, Angela! I appreciate this. I’m curious just because it does sound interesting AND of course the adaptation reminded me I own it. :)

  4. I’m not much of a fan of contemporary. It has to be from a favorite author. But I read a lot of books for review. l read Sarah’s book. It is a fantastic book. Her books transport me to the time and place and I learn things. Needless to say, Sarah is one of my top favorite authors. Nothing to find wrong with her books. She does thorough research.

    1. I for sure enjoy Sarah’s books. I didn’t love her last one quite as much, but it wasn’t because anything she wrote was bad (and I agree, she does write a compelling and thorough book), bur rather a character who wasn’t a favorite. Still… I am excited to read this one and hope I enjoy! :)
