POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FORTY-TWO
If you’re not like me and still watching the reality TV show dancing with the Stars, you may be glad knowing Alfonso Ribeiro will co-host the upcoming fall season with Tyra Banks. Banks took the place of two hosts after many years as a co-hosted show, so while that isn’t new, I’m just wondering if they’re adding Alfonso to up the likability factor since Banks didn’t seem super well liked. Alfonso previously competed on the show with pro partner Witney Carson, and he does seem to have charisma. The show also will move to Disney+ so I think overall, it’s just not doing super well.
Netflix dropped their Jane Austen adaptation of Persuasion today with Dakota Johnson. Will you be watching?
Single Parents co-stars Leighton Meester, Adam Brody & Taran Killam will appear again on screen in the adventure picture, The River Wild, which also happens to be a remake of a 1994 film. This follows Meester and Killam as siblings and the dangerous people they encounter while on a rafting trip.
Those who cannot get enough of Hallmark will love hearing Jonathan Bennett, one of their recent multi-picture star signers, and Brooke D’Orsay will co-star as a couple who’ve been together for years only to find they’ve fallen out of love. The film is set to shoot for an air date later this year and is being called Wedding of a Lifetime. Bennett, you may also recognize, not just from Hallmark but Mean Girls as well.
Rumor has it, Miles Teller has said there are some “conversations” surrounding a third Top Gun film in the wake of the MASSIVE success of Top Gun. The film has surpassed 1.2B globally… I think.
You may remember weeks ago we had a story here about Scarlett Johannson and Chris Evans reuniting for an Apple original that was a kind of “space” picture called Project Artemis. Now rumor has it, Evans has dropped out due to “conflicts” (he’s filming other projects) and Channing Tatum is in talks to replace him. What do we think?
Paramount+ has given the greenlight to a ten episode order of Criminal Minds. Will you watch?
