Acorn TV is passing its lineup of detectives for us to love. From Lucy Lawless’ Alexa Crowe to Adrian Scarborough’s Max Arnold and Jane Seymour’s Harry Wild, there are many for us to love. This time, the detective we’ll meet will be played by Brooke Shields. The show is called Allie & Andi and is being reported (according to the press release) as having six episodes. The murder mystery series will follow Shields, playing a best-selling novelist, who ends up teaming up with an “aspiring writer and influencer” to unmask a killer when a close friend is murdered. The show is set to premiere in 2026, and is from Robin Bernheim who is known for When Calls The Heart and Mother of the Bride.

In exciting period drama news, Netflix’s upcoming six-part series has found its Elizabeth Bennet and Mrs. Bennet plus its Mr. Darcy, too. The talent filling these roles is Emma Corrin and Olivia Coleman, and Jack Lowden is going to play the aloof Mr. Darcy. This is according to multiple outlets as well as Netflix and the screen writer, Dolly Alderton. Her socil media post reads that she “spent the last year adapting Pride and Prejudice […] It has been an absolute privilege and joy to have been entrusted with this story. I cannot wait to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Darcy.”

After reports, despite no official word, Hallmark did finally renew The Chicken Sisters for a second year. This likely is what sparked the network to air the show on its channel which was originally an exclusive for their streaming platform Hallmark+. The report is that the show is no longer a Hallmark+ exclusive and will now be on Hallmark Channel with next day streaming on their platform. David James Elliott is also being touted as a recurring cast member playing a character from “Gus’ past.” The second season reads as being all about family and putting feuds to rest. Season one, like I said, is making its cable debut now and will conclude on May 18. But you can stream the entire season on Hallmark+.
