ALL OF THE RECAST NEWS!

Hallmark made the move to make a new Aurora Teagarden film, this time as a re-cast and rebrand. With former Aurora Teagarden Candace Cameron Bure moving to a new network with her new deal, she is no longer the future face of the character. The network will reboot the franchise with a new actress Skyler Samuels taking on the role, and playing a younger version of Aurora. Set post her college years, Samuels will be joined by Evan Roderick as a younger Arthur and Marilu Henner will resume her role as Aurora’s mother.

What are we feeling about this? Honestly, I think the way Bure left the story and Aurora feels really complete so while I appreciate that they are (so far) using this film to revisit Aurora in her past, I also think the network should have left this franchise alone if Bure is unable (because of her deal) to come back now and then for a new film. The film’s working title is Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New.

LAST THINGS

There is again, a restirring of the Reba revival rumors. Steve Howey has been vocal about interest in reviving the show. Recently during press for his new show True Lies, the actor who was a part of the entire show, said, in part, “Reba says ‘jump,’ and I’ll say, ‘how high?’” His TV wife, and current Sweet Magnolia’s star Joanna Garcia-Swisher has also expressed interest to revisit her character of eldest daughter Cheyanne as has titular star Reba. What do you think? Would this happen and if so, what would you like to see?

After seventeen seasons, the Rachel Ray show is ending its run.

Apple has a new drama releasing soon, this time with Jennifer Garner leading the cast. The seven-part drama, The Last Thing He Told Me, will follow Garner’s character, a woman who must forge a bond with her teen stepdaughter when her husband mysteriously goes missing.

Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) has a new “chapter” coming in Belgravia: The Next Chapter. A follow up to the 2020 series simply titled Belgravia, this will be set decades later and follow new characters. MGM+ announced the cast this week which includes Harriet Slater, Ben Wainwright, Edward Bluemel, Claude Perron and Elaine Cassidy. Unfortunately, the series won’t be out to watch until winter 2023 according to news reports.

Austin Butler is being hyped for his role as Elvis in the character biopic. Is it just me, or is this too much? There’s even predictions that he’ll win, and I’m curious, how do we feel about this? I haven’t seen him in the role but it seems like this would be more of a hype kind of popular win rather than totally justified? Just feels like it’s overkill (like a headline touting how Butler had never sang or danced prior to the role, and a movement coach made him into the “king”). Speaking of…

The Oscars are this Sunday the twelfth. Will you be watching? I fall happily in the camp of couldn’t care less, though I’m sure we’ll discuss the Red Carpet looks. Just because.

Did you catch any of these stories? Did any make you happy? Annoyed? What are your thoughts about the Aurora Teagarden recast? Are you annoyed with Hallmark, Candace, think it will be good? Comment all the comments. Let’s converse.

Thank you for visiting; please come back soon.
