POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY-SEVEN: BIGGEST ‘MIDNIGHTS’ EMOTION + ENDINGS
Hey, hey! We have a few stories this week that fall into the pop culture or entertainment spectrum. This a tradition that we engage in every Friday. Since we are on Friday, we have to go on an Interest search to find the stories. But I already know a story or two to bring here. Now it’s time to dig up some others. pop culture news edition fifty-seven
LIST | RANKING THE SOUNDS OF ‘MIDNIGHTS,’ THE NEW TAYLOR SWIFT ALBUM
✨POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY-SEVEN: BIGGEST ‘MIDNIGHTS’ EMOTION + ENDINGS✨ #TAYLORSWIFT #BIGGERTHANTHEWHOLESKY #TIMBURTON #DISNEY #TOMBRADY #MOVIES Share on XFor some one of our stories will be sad. I don’t really care one way or another in terms of a fan’s perspective (because I’m not). There’s other TV stories too, like always, but mostly I’m curious to know what else we’ll find.
POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY-SEVEN
THE BIGGEST UNEXPECTED ‘MIDNIGHTS’ REVEAL
Rumors have been circulating all week that one of Taylor Swift’s ‘3A.M’ edition tracks, ‘Bigger Than the Whole Sky’ was written about a miscarriage. As a result, it’s been touching women everywhere. This week, the pop culture account Deuxmoi (which accepts anonymous submissions about culture and celebrities) posted an anonymous tidbit that an A-list celebrity had experienced a miscarriage the year prior and while she wanted to keep it private, she did want to share what she went through with fans. Of course, this sparked the rumor and assumption further that Swift is the one the song is about. However, the same account posted another anonymous submission saying no this song is written about a friend.
Seems more logical to me given the song is more of an “afterthought” and not part of the main release. What do you think?
Also, who else thinks these tracks are, generally, stronger than the album?
ENDING THEIR ‘I DOS’
It’s finally official. Tom Brady and Gisele are ending their 13-year marriage. Brady released a statement about coming to this decision with “gratitude” for the time they “spent together.” This is so sad to see anyone’s marriage come to an end. What are your thoughts on this. Is it for the best or do you think Gisele, who reportedly didn’t want Tom in the NFL playing anymore, should have (at this point) stuck it out another season and seen if Tom would retire for good?
PARTNERSHIP, NO MORE?
At a recent event, longtime creative and directing partner with Disney had some thoughts about company and why he may not work with them anymore. He says that Disney is mostly focusing on Marvel and Pixar alongside Star Wars. I’d say this is accurate and true. To quote him he says, “it’s gotten to be very homogenized, very consolidated. There’s less room for different types of things” and hilariously, he said he’d never do Marvel because he can only deal with one “universe,” not multi. Dude, I relate.
Further speaking about his time at Disney, he says he was fired and re-hired several times in his career and reflecting on his last project with Disney, he said, “I realized that I was Dumbo, that I was working in this horrible big circus and I needed to escape. That movie is quite autobiographical at a certain level.” I mean, I don’t love in total the “creative” mindset he has, but he’s probably not wrong given some of the recent things you see, hear and learn about Disney.
LAST THINGS
Described as a “complex and twisted thriller,” Leverage’s Aldis Hodge will star as the titular character in Amazon’s upcoming, new Alex Cross series.
Another one joins Hallmark. Actor Will Kemp has signed an exclusive deal with the network. Star of the upcoming (this weekend!) Jolly Good Christmas, you’ll see more of him in 2023.
Actor and comedian Leslie Jordan passed away this past week. Known for Will and Grace and currently starring on Call Me Kat, the actor died after being in a car accident, possibly the result of a health complication while driving.
Anna Kendrick will co-star and make a directing debut in The Dating Game. According to an article, it’s a “black list” script about a woman who, in the 70s, appeared on the dating show and chose a handsome bachelor unaware he’s actually a psychopath! Daniel Zovatto has is cast as the co-lead.
Taylor Swift’s music video for ‘Anti-Hero’ underwent a quick edit on Apple when people became upset about a scene where she steps onto a scale that reads “fat.” I have so many things to say about this. But I’ll just leave it there.
There’s quite a lot of controversy for Netflix’s upcoming fifth year of The Crown. After a campaign by some actors (not in the series far as I know) for the streaming giant to market the series as a dramatization, Netflix added a notice about the series, so fans know it’s “fictional” and not strictly a biographical story.
Elon Musk has officially taken over Twitter as “chief twit” according to his Twitter bio. There’s also rumors everywhere that he fired multiple top execs, all in his bid to have a more balanced platform.
What are your thoughts on this week’s round up? Do you agree or disagree with the stories? Which ones make you curious or any make you angry? What do you think of Musk? Or the Brady situation? Comment all your comments! Let’s chat about all the things this week.
