POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY-SIX
Sharing a few weeks ago, the Apple Original Film The Family Plan, telling “the story of a suburban dad who must take his family on the run when his past catches up with him” will co-star Michelle Monaghan (Made of Honor) who joins the previously cast Mark Wahlberg. Would you watch this one?
Chesapeake Shores aired its series finale this past Sunday. Did you watch it? I haven’t and in fact am pretty sure I didn’t finish the former season so I have some tv binging to do. If you did watch it, did the show end its O’Brien saga well? There’s rumors flying around that we could see them again someday in some sort of TV movie format. If we do, would you watch?
ABC has padded its cast for their live-action production of Beauty and the Beast which we talked about this twice in former pop culture roundups. This go round of cast includes Martin Short and Shania Twain as the everyone’s beloved favorite candlestick and teapot. Four additional cast members will join musicians H.E.R. and Josh Groban in the roles of Belle and the Beast, respectively. Are you loving or loathing the cast? The production will air December 15th on ABC.
If you love the 1996 iconic film Twister, you’ll love knowing that plans are in the works for a sequel. Working title is Twisters and is said to be a follow up with the daughter of Dr. Jo Harding, famously played by Helen Hunt, further saying that this would be about a daughter who has “the storm-chasing bug her parents had.” No word is out there yet whether or not Hunt will return to reprise her role. The picture is described as a “a big-scale sequel.”
Taylor Swift dropped her hotly anticipated album Midnights today. Like usual, the girl pulls some stunts. Are we even surprised at this point? She has you preorder and buy her 13-track album and then “surprise,” she says, here’s seven more tracks you could spend another $9 to $15 dollars (if you want to own the songs) on. I mean, everyone does it, so guess she’ll keep it up. Anyway, I’m listening to the album as we speak. So far, it’s not what I hoped. But you know I’m writing an exclusive post all about it, so that’s coming in a day or two.
Name anything we see make more headlines than the GAC vs Hallmark multi-picture deal stories! Ok, so yes, I know there are several stories to beat this, but gosh, in the entertainment world, there’s a lot! They keep coming with the most recent being real-life couple Alexa and Carlos PenaVega. The couple has signed a multi-picture deal with Hallmark, the start of which will likely begin in 2023. The executive VP of programming says, “Alexa and Carlos PenaVega have become an important part of the Hallmark family over the years, and we couldn’t be happier to extend our partnership with them.” The question now is, will their projects be joint or will be see them solo again? Oddly enough, I generally like their solo pictures best.
Did you read about these stories during the week? Which ones do you most want to talk about? Which stories didn’t we mention that you NEED to discuss? Let’s chat in the comment section. I’d love to hear all of your thoughts.
Thank you for visiting; please come back soon.
The Twister news was so fun! I loved that movie. I hope Helen Hunt comes back for it; I read somewhere that she had an idea for a sequel many years ago and no one would pick it up.
I just saw someone on Instagram say it was their favorite movie. I haven’t seen it but considering I was watching some of Helen Hunt’s 90s TV show recently, I should give this film a chance, too! :)
