‘PRETTY LITTLE PIECES’: A SPOTLIGHT ON NEW BOOK ARRIVING DECEMBER 6!
When it comes to books, no secret is made that my reading life is nil. Not that I don’t want to read, it’s just a thing I’m going through. However, I am still into books and still love books. Just must rediscover my aptitude for the reading space and just reading in general. So in pursuit of look at books and loving on some, we’re doing this random post, a post for a Pretty Little Pieces book spotlight, which is Carmen Schober’s sophomore release.
DISCUSSION | THOUGHTS ON WHY SOCIAL MEDIA ISN’T ALWAYS NECESSARY
First let’s take a trip back in history to Carmen’s debut novel, After She Falls. A novel that I have to admit an embarrassing truth about. I started this one back when it was probably still considered new, and was sincerely enjoying the novel. But I was letting things going on in the Christian fiction world cloud my reading, and so, I never finished the book. I’m not proud of this and do plan to read the book in full. I just have to sit down with a warm cup of something or my favorite grape Olipop and do this. Based on what I’ve read, what I like about Carmen’s style is she shakes things up within her genre but still is within the genre.
For me, as a reader who loves Becky Wade novels, and admiring her way of challenging the genre, I love this.
Published by Bethany House, Carmen’s debut is a challenge, in the best way, to the genre norm, and I appreciate that Bethany House published this. Her sophomore novel promises the same, and from Goodreads, here’s what the official synopsis reads.
📘‘PRETTY LITTLE PIECES’: A SPOTLIGHT ON NEW BOOK ARRIVING DECEMBER 6!📘 #BOOKNEWS #CHRISTIANFICTION #FICTION #GOODREADS #READBOOKS #READGOODBOOKS #NEWBOOKS Share on XAmbitious influencer Georgina Havoc and her designer beau Lance Broussard have been dubbed the the next Chip and Joanna Gaines, but their happily-ever-after falls apart when Lance blindsides her with a “pause.” The show must go on, so Georgina takes on the task of renovating a forgotten cottage in the tiny, tight-knit town of Tarragon, Tennessee on her own.
Georgina has a plan to save her relationship–and her show–but a surprise drop-in from her troubled twin sister makes things extra messy. That, and the presence of rugged ex-sniper Cassidy Stokes, who throws a wrench in all her plans.
As she puts the pieces of her rippled life back together, will Georgina retreat to the familiar or embrace a new design? – Goodreads

The cover for this book first caught my eye when Bethany House released the fall title lineup. It’s pretty and provoking, with the broken china. I didn’t read Carmen’s debut (yet), but I’ve heard fantastic things about it! I’m probably most excited to read this one because it’s a new-to-me author + the story is intriguing as a whole.
I love discovering new authors! And I really did enjoy what I read (of book one) by Carmen so far. Agree about the cover. It is provoking. Hoping to enjoy this one too. :)
I love Chip & Joanna but the cover is what sold me when I first saw it. I did not read her first novel because it sounded too dark and like there is abuse (which is triggering for me). I may try it at some point but not sure. However, this one sounds a little less dark, but also intensely good!
I love novels that are “different” so I’m excited by Carmen’s novels, but can also respect and understand that not everyone will enjoy them. I did like her first book (what I read) and didn’t think it was terribly dark, but this won’t be true for every reader and that’s ok. :) I agree that this one does have an eye catching cover and the premise sounds interesting!! Here’s hoping.
