Hey, there, Friday – and friends. Back to round out the weekday week with a pop culture story roundup splashed with some entertainment news. This week there’s CONTROVERSEY with something a popular actress said, and like usual, we have lighter stories about favorite fandoms or the like. pop culture news edition fifty-eight
LIST | SEVEN TV CHARACTERS I DON’T KNOW IF I SHOULD LIKE EVEN THOUGH I DO
✨POP CULTURE NEWS EDITION FIFTY-EIGHT: HOLLYWOOD POLITICAL OPINIONS✨CHECKING IN ON THE WEEK'S STORIES. #ANNEHATHAWAY #MOVIES #POPCULTURE #HOLLYWOOD #ANDYSACHS #DEVILWEARSPRADA #SANDITON #SANDITONPBS Share on XWhen it comes to these roundups, I actually like adding a “spice” story now and then. Partially because I’m open to good conversation that isn’t screaming at one another (that is NOT a conversation) and partially because it’s curious to see these actors and how they put their political opinions out there. Let’s just dive right into this story and I’d be curious, what are your thoughts?

ANDY SACHS MAY NOT HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN TODAY’S WORLD
Actress Anne Hathaway, known for her iconic roles like Mia Thermopolis or Andy Sachs, recently went on the ABC daytime show The View. On it, the topic of recent Supreme Court rulings came up and Hathaway states that abortion is another term for “mercy.” Her argument is that the discussion isn’t one about morals but women’s rights which are “human rights.” She pushes “choice” and because of earlier conversation about The Devil Wears Prada and that it is sweet sixteen, she brings the character Andy Sachs into the argument and if she were to play that role today, she wouldn’t be able to take for granted Andy starting out her career with that freedom of choice.
Honestly, to bring a beloved film character that was, largely, not a “political” figure, into her argument just feels lazy. I mean I get why she does and don’t doubt, given all we know about Andy, she would be of this persuasion, but also… WHY?! No doubt if anyone would ever make a sequel today, there would be political elements.
HALLMARK GOES TO NEXT DAY STREAMING
Most everyone who likes Hallmark has probably seen the network is pairing with (or vice vera) Peacock. The streaming will now host a “All Things Hallmark” section where you can stream shows as well as, in some cases, network premieres the following day.
What are your thoughts on this? Will this entice you to pick up another streaming service (it doesn’t me) or will you stick with your usual method of watching Hallmark?
LAST THINGS
NCIS again is one of the leading most watched entertainment TV shows of the fall season. CBS is also taking 17 of the 25 top spots with shows like FBI and its newcomer Fire Country. Shows like NBC’s Chicago Fire also does well.
Set to premiere in 2023, Scott Caan is back on TV in Fox’s Alert, a TV show following a team searching for missing kids. The teaser made the rounds this week, and while I didn’t watch it (I find I like to “blind” go into something these days), I’m curious, did you guys see it?
HBO is not moving forward with the Degrassi revival.
Speaking of things not happening. Well… at least for Jennifer Lawrence. The Hunger Games actress has backed out of playing Elizabeth Holmes in the Apple original movie Bad Blood. She cites the reason for this as Amanda Seyfried’s fantastic portrayal in Hulu’s The Dropout, saying she had this thought of “…‘we don’t need to redo that.’ She did it.” Do you think Apple will make the film without Lawrence?
Probably everyone already knows this, but did you see this week that Stephanie Meyer wanted Henry Cavill in the role of Edward Cullen!? The character was from Twilight and of course, is famously played by Robert Pattinson.
Speaking of Cavill, he will not be returning for season two of Netflix’s The Witcher and instead will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. Thoughts? I haven’t seen the show so I don’t have anything invested.
There’s more reported layoffs happening at Twitter under the new ownership of Elon Musk. Headlines call this part of his “overhaul.”
After last week’s news that Tom Brady and Gisele divorced, there is now chatter that actually they didn’t divorce because of his career or family. Rather that he might be interested in going into politics and Gisele wasn’t willing to support where he stood. Seems like an important thing to know and understand about each other before marriage.
If you liked the recent Elizabeth period drama, Starz won’t be giving Becoming Elizabeth a second season.
If you’re a fan of Sanditon, you may like seeing (and probably already have) series three images for the upcoming early 2023 third season.
Taylor Swift announced her ‘Eras Tour’ to begin in 2023. The show will be a stadium tour with what she says she hopes will soon add overseas dates as well.
Did you see any of these stories in this last week? What were your thoughts? Will you watch PBS’ third season of Sanditon? How do you feel about Anne Hathaway’s comments? Which stories did you see during the week?? Comment all the times below. Let’s talk.
Thank you for visiting; please come back soon.
