Telling more than one story, Christmas at the Golden Dragon about multi people in different places, and it’s actually pretty sweet.
Christmas at the Golden Dragon (2022) Hallmark TV Film Review
Whether she knows it or not, her familial ties help guide Romy Chen (Kara Wang) in her current advertising job. This year her break from her New York career will be spent, as always, in the same place. Back home in her family’s Chinese restaurant in Wichita. One of the restaurants open for Christmas day dining, through its many years of business, it’s a place where family’s gather and spend time together. Only this year, Romy is tempted to accept an invitation from her boyfriend, Blake (Markian Tarasiuk), to spend Christmas with his family in Vermont.
In Wichita, Rick Chen (Osric Chau) is hiding his talents; recently divorced Nate (Antonio Cupo) struggles to give his daughters a grand Christmas; the grieving Jane (Barbara Niven) and daughter Veronica (Sara Canning), who is mourning a loss of her own; and college senior Sadie Cohen (Genevieve Buechner) is back in town, still harboring a crush.

🏮‘CHRISTMAS AT THE GOLDEN DRAGON’: A SMALL TOWN MULTISTORY ABOUT CONNECTION🏮 REVIEW OF the 2022 #HALLMARKCHRISTMAS MOVIE! #CHRISTMASMOVIE #MOVIES #CHRISTMAS Share on XWith its many storylines, this is actually one the more unique films I’ve seen from the 2022 lineup. There’s a host of characters to meet, connect with and find favorites among them. Too many really to all fit into the conversation. Plus the people who play them is a solid mix of new and familiar talent. This helps in making the characters seem fresh and all the more interesting because there aren’t expectations. That said, it’s fun to see Antonio Cupo in something after one of the fan favorites from years ago Love at the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
There’s lots of coming together, connections and community in this script. Christmas at the Golden Dragon is a Christmas flick easy to get caught up in. It’s also one that my mother and I both agreed is more memorable than most. Despite some of the notions or expectation of things being “perfect” which is impossible, there’s just something about this that is impossible not to enjoy.

Content: there is the implication that a couple lives together or at the very least shares a room. There’s also emotional upheaval in various stories too. Mostly in loess though it takes different forms. The film is TV-G.
