PICKING 12 RANDOM BOOKS OFF THE SHELF. JUST BECAUSE.

by

We get to do something fun today (!!) while still sticking to the traditional Tuesday book list. Instead of a more rigid topic, we get to feature random books from the bookshelf. Once in a while I run across a topic for our weekly Tuesday lists that is just plain fun. This is one of those. I literally closed my eyes, and carefully (because some of my book stacks and shelves are a little precarious!) took the books off the shelf. Once I had the number I wanted, I took a look to see what my blind “search” found! This is the result of that with our random books from my shelf selection.

Each time I put these together I always have good intentions of featuring some different authors or books sprinkled into those I feature (likely too often). This is easier said than done when I make the choice to stick to books I own versus random ones I find online. This is why today is fun because I’m hoping that I can find some random titles that don’t see features here often. Let’s find some books, shall we?

RANDOM BOOKS FROM the BOOKSHELF

SALTY, BITTER, SWEET, MARYA CAEVAS

This was an ARC I received but sadly never made time for. It sounds unique enough that I do still want to read it so perhaps soon I will! Goodreads

THE INN AT OCEANS EDGE, COLLEEN COBLE

I’ve said it many times before but will say it again, I read many a Colleen Coble novel in the day. Most of which I thoroughly enjoyed. Goodreads

THE PLAINSMAN, LORI COPELAND

Like Colleen’s books, I went through a cowboy reading phase, largely thanks to this author. Her entire wester series (broken into two sets which was these and a Brides of the West collection) is just fun. Goodreads

RULES OF MURDER, JULIANNA DEERING

I was hoping this topic would allow me to feature books I rarely do and yet even with a blind pick, I still came away with an old favorite. Goodreads

AS GOOD AS DEAD, HOLLY JACKSON

I haven’t even read this series yet and I picked up one of her more recent books a month or so ago. Was this a mistake? Goodreads

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS, MAGGIE KNOX

It’s Christmas in… May!? Maybe for some it is! Either way, this is one I picked up last year and think sounds fun, much like Maggie’s novel from the year before which is described as a kind of The Holiday (the feature film with Kate Winslet) plot. Goodreads

A DRESS FOR THE WICKED, AUTUMN KRAUSE

Pretty sure this was a cover buy and since I’m needing to sort my shelves again which leads to unhauling, tell me, is this one I should keep or box? Goodreads

THE BLUEBIRD AND THE SPARROW, JANETTE OKE

If ever anyone wonders what a throwback read for me would be, you cannot get much more vintage in my reading life than a novel by Janette Oke; I’ve had my copy for so long that the one I have is “vintage” cover design market. A staple and respected name in the inspirational/Christian fiction market, she’s known for her prairie fiction and the author that inspired the popular Hallmark series When Calls the Heart. Goodreads

HEART OF IRON, ASHLEY POSTON

Ashley’s books seem to get some good reviews and hype but I’ve never read one. This one isn’t my normal cup of tea but I think I picked it up because it’s an Anastasia re-telling and as a kid, there’s few movies I watched more frequently than the animated film about Anastasia’s adventure. Goodreads

LUCKY IN LOVE, KASIE WEST

Even when picking books where I cannot SEE, I still come away with a favorite author of mine! Goodreads

BONUS SELECTIONS

ELEANOR: CROWN JEWEL OF AQUITAINE

Did anyone else read these? I have several of the ‘Royal Diaries’ books. Some I read, some I never did. I’m not sure why I still own them, but I do know, I liked them quite well as a kid. Goodreads

SURVIVAL IN THE STORM: DUST BOWL STORY OF GRACE EDWARDS

Like the ‘Royal Diaries,’ in that same type of line (and publishing house), there were the ‘Dear Diary’ books. All of which take place in a kind of prominent place or time in history. This one, obviously, was during the dust bowl and probably the Great Depression to some extent, too. Goodreads

Have you read any of these? Would you? Which ones sound most interesting? How did you put together your book list today? Comment all of the comments below. Let’s talk about all the things.

    1. “The Bluebird and the Sparrow” is a book I read WAY too long ago. It’s sweet as I remember. I always enjoy books about siblings or those I’ve read I do because I think it’s an underrated “trope” in fiction. :)

    1. I haven’t read a novel by Janette or Lori in years either! They were my jam for years though. Someday I want to read another Colleen Coble book. I did really enjoy what I read by her. :)

    1. I haven’t read a Dear America book in years! But I did enjoy the ones I used to read. Someday I should revisit one I have and I hope if you find this one, you enjoy!

    1. I’m glad to hear it! I’ve had this one for quite some time so at some point I should read it or donate it for someone else to read. :)

    1. It was! I really enjoyed it. I had hoped I’d find a few more I don’t usually feature, but still… that’s my error not the prompts. :)
