SOME OF THE STORIES THAT LOOK LIKE SUMMERTIME IN A BOOK

Instead of sending a message in a bottle, today we’re going to look at the book covers that look like summer! Why? Because it’s nearing the official start of summer (although we all know the unofficial start is already here) and it’s fun to bring our aesthetic fully in to embrace those summer-y rays!

Last year we did something similar and I’m a little bookworm nervous wondering if I have enough titles on my shelves to curate a list full of different book covers. But since we won’t know the answer to this until we dive into making our list, let’s just get started and hope we come away with enough! Let’s do this. (Also, yes, I did add some books to the list I don’t own.)

BOOK COVERS THAT LOOK LIKE SUMMER

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT, SARAH ADAMS

All of the flowers made this one stand out for me plus the pink is fun and different, too. Goodreads

MAKE THE FIREFLIES DANCE, RACHEL BATEMAN

Right from the title, this one looks like all the summer-y goodness and loveliness. It’s also a really (really) sweet novel if you like Jenny Han or something like The Perfect Date on Netflix. Goodreads

ROOM AT THE TOP, KRISTIN BILLERBECK

Riding a bike on what looks to be a lovely day makes this one that quintessential summer looking read. Goodreads

THE GEOGRAPHY OF LOST THINGS, JESSICA BRODY

It’s been a few years but I did read this one and my memory is that it was a cute read. Is there anything more summer-y than a road trip story and the lush green trees on the cover? Goodreads

NO WORDS, MEG CABOT

I mean, a beach and a cute beach day set up? We have to include this one, too! Goodreads

HELLO, STRANGER, KATHERINE CENTER

Pretty sure I often use a book cover from this author on a summer book cover list. They’re just so bright and fun and summer-like. Goodreads

PICTURE PERFECT BOYFRIEND, BECKY DEAN

This one is dang cute! I own Becky’s other release, from last year, but not this one. However, when you see it how can we not add it? Goodreads

FAMOUS FOR A LIVING, MELISSA FERGUSON

This one just has a cute cover and I think it’s very summer-y. I have heard that Melissa’s books (inside) don’t always match the cover which tends to be more rom-com and the stories are actually more women’s fiction. But still, we love a cute cover. Goodreads

🌴 SOME OF THE STORIES THAT LOOK LIKE SUMMERTIME IN A BOOK 🌴 A list of Summer books covers. Just for fun.
THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY, JENNY HAN

This one is a given and likely one I’ve included in prior lists, too. Plus it’s a Prime series, too, so if you haven’t read the books, prior to its season two drop, make sure to pick them up! Goodreads

SLINGSHOT, MERCEDES HELNWEIN

I’ve had this one a while and haven’t read it, but the colors and the palm trees framing the book makes look like a good fit. Goodreads

THE MATCHBREAKER SUMMER, ANNIE RAINS

Pretty sure I’ve included this on a summer book cover list, but whatever. We’re bound to repeat sometimes. Goodreads

THE HEART SHOT, EMILY SCHEIDER

I mean all the sunflowers. We must include this one, right? Goodreads

HEART LAND, KIMBERLEY STUART

Perfectly summer is this cover. I like the darker shades of blue, the held hands and the lantern. It’s a pretty scene. Goodreads

WELL, THAT WAS UNEXPECTED, JESSE Q. SUTANTO

The colors are different on this than most I pulled, but the palm trees and tropical feel makes it a good fit. Also the upcoming paperback cover got a facelift which is still perfectly summer-like. Goodreads

Have you read any of these? Would you? Which ones should I take the time to read? Which ones have you read? What books would be on your summertime book cover list? Let’s meet in the comments.

Linking up with That Artsy Reader Girl June 6: Books or Covers that Feel/Look Like Summer (You can interpret this in a number of ways. Maybe the covers or titles are obviously summer themed, but maybe the feeling the book gives you is all warm and summery. Maybe the book cover colors look summery or the story itself takes place in the summertime. Or maybe the titles you select are favorites that you re-read every summer when you were on break from school.)

    1. I’m glad to know Center’s are good reads! I really want to read one or two of hers, and I’m pretty sure they recently adapted “Happiness for Beginners” so maybe that’s where I should start. :)
