‘A PINCH OF PORTUGAL’: HEROINE STEPS INTO UNEXPECTED CULINARY SPOTLIGHT
Full of a cast of characters easy to like, A Pinch of Portugal is a fun location romance that is actually good.
A Pinch of Portugal (2023) Hallmark TV Film Review
Working hard at her job is part of every day for prep cook Anna (Heather Hemmens). Part of a popular TV cooking show, Anna plays second to the star who isn’t shy about running through prep cooks. With their latest episode showing off Portuguese cuisine, Anna along with the crew travels on location where it turns out Anna must step into the role of chef and host during filming.
Panicked but supported by the best crew including Russ (Luke Mitchell), the cameraman and Anna’s best friend. Then there is Lucas (Duarte Gomes), the local who is ready to show Anna not just the sights, but help her find all the best ingredients for her creations.

🥐🍽️‘A PINCH OF PORTUGAL’: HEROINE STEPS INTO UNEXPECTED CULINARY SPOTLIGHT🍽️🥐 #Hallmark #HallmarkMovie #HallmarkMovies #RomCom #Romance #LukeMitchell Share on XIf I were to go back and look at all of the Hallmark movies I’ve seen through the many (many) years, I think those that “travel” are some of my favorites. A Pinch of Portugal is among these. It’s a fun story (although still familiar) and the cast is good too. I also really like the setting because who doesn’t love a bit of armchair adventuring. If you like seeing the culture of whatever place the film is set in, this one does a decent job of showing off. Between the food and the sights, there is balance.
One of the newer faces to feature in Hallmark films, Heather Hemmens is good, and she plays the role well. I enjoy seeing her bring to life this role of Anna. Most people also love Luke Mitchell from the NBC mystery Blindspot; the Australian actor is good too and overall, I like everyone in their respective roles and their characters.
There’s some of the usual drama with the relationships but making up for this is the setting and fashion. If you’re a foodie, you will also likely find lots to enjoy in this story.
