I do hope summer kicks off to a grand start for everyone and you are enjoying these days with more to come. We are back with more of the trending stories from the week because it is Friday!! pop culture news ninety-three

Not sure what we’ll find this week to feature (so far it’s slim), but our keyboard is here and we’re ready to scroll the internet to see what we find. Will it be weird? Good? Bad? Let’s find out!

POP CULTURE NEWS NINETY-THREE

If you’re into reality TV, Ariana Madix will compete on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars this fall. Madix has been at the center of reality TV drama lately though what it all is, well, that I cannot answer.

If you love Hallmark and follow the new network Great American Family, you will be happy to know there is news. They are padding their 2023 Christmas schedule with a new announcement that is Jill Wagner’s upcoming film, Bringing Christmas Home. Her co-star will be fan favorite Paul Greene and have a military theme. This makes at least the fourth upcoming movie announcement which also includes Danica McKeller, Jen Lilley and Candance Cameron Bure as favorite leading ladies. The network also has summer movie premiere plans which will eventually transition (October 20) into their Christmas fare, so stick around! We’ll share all that news once it’s final.

NETFLIX REVIEW | ‘SWEET MAGNOLIAS,’ SEASON ONE: THE START OF NETFLIX’S SMALL TOWN DRAMA

Fuller House and Hallmark star Candace Cameron Bure is again making headlines. This time a Netflix star is accusing her of trying to cut the character Miss Benny plays in a guest role. In a video which appears on TikTok according to articles, the Glamorous star says, “One of the Tanner sisters is very publicly not for the girls. I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio to basically warn me how this person allegedly was trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show.” The video also makes allegations that the implication would be Bure’s “fanbase might be encouraged to target me, specifically. The fact that this teenage actor who’s coming in to make jokes about wearing a scarf is suddenly a target from an adult is crazy to me,” and also “to this day, despite working on the show every day for two weeks straight, I have only had a conversation with one of the Tanner sisters.” The article says Bure is not mentioned, but rather her name is a hashtag.

Bure issued a statement saying, “I never asked Miss Benny’s character to be removed from Fuller House and did not ask the writers, producers or studio executives to not have queer characters on the show. Fuller House has always welcomed a wide range of characters. I thought Miss Benny did a great job as ‘Casey’ on the show.  We didn’t share any scenes together, so we didn’t get a chance to talk much while filming on set. I wish Miss Benny only the best.” What do you think? Is this a fair and truthful complaint or is this another let’s-use-social-media-to-cause-drama-and-blow-something-out-of-propotion situation?

Since it’s a slow week, and I see nothing across the multiple scrolling places, we’ll mention the latest app. Threads, the new Meta (aka Instagram) Twitter copycat app launched this week. We are on there. Probably not consistently or maybe long-term, but we’re there. Also… do we really need more social media?

Just in case you’re living under a rock (though I know you don’t), Taylor Swift released her anticipated album Speak Now Taylor’s Version. This is now her third re-recorded studio album. The album contains all of her original Speak Now recordings (with change) and six “vault” tracks. This now means Swift owns three of the six albums that she and her former record label were disputing over.

Ok, your turn! Which of these have you been following? Which did like enjoy? Dislike? What stories should we talk about? Let’s dust off our conversation skills and chat. Comment everything you have to talk about below. Let’s talk!

    1. So glad! I haven’t really used it yet just because there’s no desktop login. I spend so much of my day in front of a screen (writing/posting/social graphic creation) that I don’t like spending MORE time on a screen with my phone. One of the reasons I also haven’t replaced my now broken Kindle. I still prefer the old fashion way to read. Even with its more cumbersome inconvenience. ;) I’d love if it’d stay chill… but time will tell! I did see a headline (didn’t read the story though) that it’s not going to promote political things, but again time will tell.
