POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED: CANCELLATION AND CANCEL CULTURE
Hello, happy readers! We are tossing a small handful of confetti today because our weekly pop culture roundup of things is celebrating its one-hundredth week! It’s not a big deal in the scheme of things and certainly not in the “bigger picture” that is the Internet. Still, it’s fun realizing we put these together for one hundred weeks’ straight and makes me wonder, should we keep doing them? pop culture news one hundred

This week we found a few stories, so we’ll recap them in their basic format and then await your thoughts in the comment area.
POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED
Despite a season two renewal to begin with, Amazon has opted to not renew and produce a second season of A League all their Own. Series star and co-creator Abbi Jacobson had choice words about the cancellation, clearly upset, and then recently, it’s co-creator Will Graham said he plans to “continue to try to find a new home for the beloved series.” The show, according to reports, isn’t moving forward because of a combination of “Production delays and additional expenses brought by the ongoing Hollywood strikes,” which star Jacobson doesn’t buy.
Speaking to Wall Street Journal magazine, Jennifer Aniston made a few headlines this week saying, “I’m so over cancel culture.” Adding that she “probably just got canceled by saying that. I just don’t understand what it means… Is there no redemption? I don’t know.” She further compares it to a specific Hollywood name. While I do agree with her that cancel culture is out of hand and everything (even when it shouldn’t be) is tagged as such, I don’t think we’d agree on the reasons for this.
HBO is bringing back The Gilded Age for a second season and will return on October 29. Accompanied by a trailer, the show will bring up more challenges for Bertha (still trying to receive acceptance into old money society); plus more for Agnes to disapprove of with her sister Ada and niece Marian. I did quite like season one of this Julian Fellowes show and think it ends nicely despite their being promise of more story to tell. Needless to say I’ll be curious to see what happens in this second season.
In the podcast Pod Meets World, former Boy Meets World star Will Friedle and Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart share they’re working on a new project. A script Friedle wrote will follow characters in a plot that “Essentially it’s, Melissa and I did a movie together back in the 90s,” he also adds that the fictional film hasn’t gone ahead “for a bunch of very funny reasons.”
Since we’re not finding much news, today is, according to the Internet, Blake Lively’s birthday. Just for fun, tell us, what is your favorite movie of hers? I’ve probably only seen a handful like Green Lantern and Age of Adaline, plus of course Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants. Which ones do I need to see??
Did you read up on any of these? How many piqued your curiosity? Which ones are most interesting to you? Should we keep this roundup going past this one hundredth week? Fill up the comment section. Let’s meet there.
