✨POP CULTURE NEWS 174: THE SAME TREND CONTINUES (IT'S MORE TV NEWS!). #GreatAmericanFamily #StephenAmell #SuitsLA #HighPotential Share on X

Like any week, I’m certain that the stories dominating headlines are ones involving TV shows and the like, but we still share what’s trending and any other stories that fall into the happier stories from this week.

POP CULTURE NEWS 174

Good news for fans of a certain ABC crime drama! They did renew High Potential for a second year. The show is the second most watched new show of the season so likely this isn’t a surprise. According to a January 17th press release, High Potential is one of three shows (the other two being The Rookie and Will Trent) that had a “record-setting results” during the Tuesday night drama program run. Speaking of the show specifically, the same presser says it enjoyed a “series High With 12.9 Million Total Viewers Across Platforms – Rising +130% Over Initial Live Same Day Audience.” Are you among its audience?

If Suits: LA, the spin off of Suits is on your hotly anticipated NBC show, there is a full trailer now for the Stephen Amell led show (which I think will mark Amell’s most significant return to TV since Arrow’s swan song) which, according to articles and rumors, will have a Harvey Specter connection!

If you’re a fan of Great American Family, they made an announcement for their anticipated second season of When Hope Calls. Originally a Hallmark series, the show was picked up (after Hallmark didn’t renew) by GAF for a second year and will now feature stars like Christopher Russell and Cindy Busby. The show will drop April 3 on the network’s streamer Great American Pure Flix and will then make its network debut on April 6th. Other expected 2025 drops include the second season of their original show County Rescue; a new original film with Danica McKeller currently called Grounded; a second mystery in Candace Cameron Bure’s Ainsley McGregor movies; and a planned sequel for Home Sweet Christmas (a 2024 debut) which would reunite Bure and her co-star Cameron Mathison. The Facebook live reveals these (and other) things is still on the network’s Facebook page if you want to watch.

We now ask you the question: which of these stories did you follow this week? Which ones did we forget? Comment all of your thoughts! Let’s talk about all of the pop culture things!
