POP CULTURE NEWS ONE HUNDRED and SIX

ANOTHER TOUCHDOWN for SUNDAY TV

This past Sunday and Monday, social media was again full of Taylor Swift things. This because the popstar went to another game the KC Chiefs vs the NY Jets. The NFL Instagram page being full of comments that the NFL was going overboard and even Travis Kelce, a KC player, was on a podcast saying that the NFL and networks are “overdoing it” and that while the NFL is having “fun” with this, it’s overdone “especially my situation.” Despite this, the NFL is defending its choices and isn’t made they’ve “leaned into” this moment.

Even as someone who hasn’t seen the games and isn’t a buy-Taylor-Swift-merch (outside of her music) kind of fan, I would say it’s overdone. I think it’s fair of fans to feel this way and would even say some are fans of both the NFL and Taylor Swift. I’ve even seen some on social media who are fans of both saying the same. Jessica from HouseInHabit also had some things to say, and while I don’t agree with her about everything, I think she’s right in that the coverage is crazy. There’s even headlines about them just getting to know each other. It’s like she says, um, yeah, that’s normal in any new relationship. This isn’t groundbreaking. It’s all just too much… even if the people involved want it.

DIVAS of 80S TV TO STAR IN LIFETIME MOVIE

Lifetime is producing an 80s inspired film featuring leading ladies from the popular shows of the 80s like Dallas, Falcon Crest and Knot’s Landing. This will include Linda Gray, Nicolette Sheridan, Morgan Fairchild and Donna Mills. The plot will follow these women who “will play soap opera stars who reunite to shoot their show’s final Christmas episode.”

LAST things

You won’t be seeing more of iCarly on Paramount+. The revival show is done after three seasons.

After last week’s ABC cancellation news, Home Economics news, the co-creator is “hopeful” the show will “pop up” again… only “somewhere else.”

Oscar nominee Austin Butler’s next big role will release January 26 on Apple TV+. The series, Masters of the Air, will be an adaptation of “Donald L. Miller’s book and scripted by John Orloff, the limited series follows the true story of an American bomber group in World War II.” The film will also be produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.

Netflix drops its trailer for the November 2 release of is miniseries All the Light we Cannot See. Mark Ruffalo leads the cast as a father “who flees Nazi-occupied Paris with his blind daughter Marie-Laure in tow. They hide out with an eccentric uncle played by Hugh Laurie, and Marie-Laure (Aria Mia Loberti) grows up to become an underground radio broadcaster, using her words to fight the incoming Nazi empire.”

Hulu will bring back Only Murders in the Building for a fourth season.

Apple TV+ has released its trailer for The Buccaneers. I didn’t’ watch it, but based on the promotional photos and the trailer screencap, it looks like this will indeed, like I assumed, be a very modern interpretation which forgoes the charms of the era.

After months of talking, Mayim Bialik says there has been talk of rebooting her 80s sitcom Blossom. Only this time any future reboot would not be a “sitcom.”

All over to you now! Did you read up on any of these? Which ones are you most interested in? Did any annoy you? Comment all of your thoughts below. Let’s meet in the comments.
