Until then, let’s see what we find. pop culture news seventy three

POP CULTURE NEWS SEVENTY THREE
The “shocking” show biz news of the week is that Ryan Seacrest will be leaving Live with Kelly and Ryan. This coming after six years of sitting in the co-host chair. The new co-host will be Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos who has guested co-hosted, will take on the new co-host position.
In the latest of a string of re-boots, some successful and some failures, 70s drama Starsky and Hutch is next up. This time, Fox, wants a gender swapped show with two females as the iconic characters. Honestly… this gender swap thing is a little tiring. It no longer feels unique and fresh to say nothing of this already being a re-boot. Don’t mistake me I still love Magnum P.I. and Hawaii Five-o was entertaining. Still, can’t we create new buddy cop comedies or unique female characters in a buddy cop dramedy? Anyway, back to this iteration which reads as a drama about Sasha Starsky and Nicole Hutchinson solving “crimes in the offbeat town of Desert City while staying true to their friendship, their awesomeness, and somehow also trying to unravel the mystery behind who sent their fathers to prison 15 years ago for a crime they didn’t commit.”
Last week news broke that Kevin Costner may be OUT in the Yellowstone universe! Since then opinion pieces have been written about legit ways the actor could leave (perhaps Dutton’s death). This all comes after reports surfaced that there’s tension between Costner and co-stars over his filming schedule on the current season. Honestly, if he’s being a jerk, that’s not cool, but the dude should be able to work less days if he’s putting in the work and giving his all to the character the days he’s there. Other actors have notably done this including Scott Caan on Hawaii Five-o.
Danica McKellar has a second Christmas flick on the way with Great American Family. McKellar will star, co-write and produce the film currently titled Royal Christmas Ball.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 is set to release September 8. The film shot in Greece.
ITV has a new true crime drama in the works about “a woman who escapes a near-fatal relationship with a murderer” featuring Anna Maxwell Martin and Shaun Evans.
The popular and well liked drama, Call the Midwife has been renewed for not one but two more seasons bringing it up to fourteen and fifteen seasons.
Disney has a new The Little Mermaid trailer and some new image stills to go with it. This has been making all the Internet rounds so I’m sure everyone has seen them all.
Did you see any of these stories? Do any make you smile? Are any of the TV stories worrisome? How are you feelings about this live-action Little Mermaid? Comment all of the comments. Let’s talk.
