‘MISTLETOE MURDERS’ FIRST IMPRESSION: A COZY MYSTERY FROM HALLMARK
The first “cozy” mystery series for their streamer, Hallmark+, Mistletoe Murders is based on the Audible series of the same name.
Mistletoe Murders (2024) First Impression Hallmark+ TV Review
Nightmares may seem a myth for some, but for Emily Lane (Sarah Drew), they are very real. She has the kind that even when you wake up, there’s a moment when everything is still scary. The question always remains, is she still in one? This is what Emily feels as she starts a new day and heads to work in her year-round Christmas shop. Even with these scares, Emily enjoys her shop and while guarded, she gets to know the people in her small town… until everything gets scary when a murder happens.
Emily has a unique perspective that no one knows about, which means she sees things others don’t. She now finds herself investigating outside the prying eyes of local detective Sam Wilner (Peter Mooney) as she works a case that leaves the whole town on edge.
TV FILM REVIEW | ‘THE CHRISTMAS CHARADE’ IS A CRIME HEIST ROMANCE DANCE
‘MISTLETOE MURDERS’ FIRST IMPRESSION: A COZY MYSTERY FROM HALLMARK. Thoughts on the first episode of #MistletoeMurders, now on #HallmarkPlus! #SarahDrew #PeterMooney #Mystery Share on XIn recent weeks, I actually have been really impressed with the variety of content Hallmark offers. I can be as annoyed with their content as complimentary, and while I still encounter both (and think this is fair since it holds true no matter the network or streamer), overall, I really like that they are offering some “grittier” content to counteract their lighthearted comedies. Sarah Drew is a producer as well as star in this six episode seasonal series, and while I’m not sure I like this being “seasonal” (questioning if it will have a life beyond Christmastime), the story aside from this is good.
There are many familiar faces in Mistletoe Murders including Kylee Evans, Steve Lund and more. Sarah Drew is also no stranger to Christmas having written and starred in titles prior to this year. What I love best about the cast is seeing Peter Mooney! Surprisingly, I’m also quite intrigued by Emily’s past. I’m not normally a fan of tortured or haunted characters, but this one throws us into questioning what her past is right at the start which means there’s a heightened sense of curiosity.
Consisting of a mere six episodes, this one will release episodes throughout November. While I don’t know what direction this will take, we ask questions like will the mysteries be two-episode stories or will all the episodes connect? I’ve seen TV shows take both formats. When the seasons are short, I don’t mind connecting stories, which is what this I am sure will take. Either way, episode one does a wonderful job of making us curious.
You can exclusively stream Mistletoe Murders on Hallmark+. If you have Prime Video, there is also an option for the streamer as an add on for $7.99/month.

Content: there is conversation about murder and poison. We see photos and some scenes of the body but are graphic. We see another lifeless body lying on the ground. There’s an implication that a man is an alcoholic. The show is TV-G. Note, these are observations on the first episode only though I’m sure future episodes will be the same. We’ll update this with any noteworthy thoughts or content as future episodes release.
Thanks for sharing. Mistletoe Murders sounds like one not to miss.
It was lots of fun! I’m definitely curious to see where the story goes. :)
