‘THE CHRISTMAS CHARADE’ IS A CRIME HEIST ROMANCE DANCE
Reuniting co-stars and playing with the crime drama and Christmas movie genres, The Christmas Charade is, for the most part, a good time.
The Christmas Charade (2024) TV Film Review
Risk isn’t something Whitney (Rachel Skarsten) is big on. She finds her adventure in movies with heists and works in the safe environment of the library. Into her safe world, or rather she into his, walks danger when she is recruited by Josh Dawson (Corey Sevier), an FBI agent. Being his partner isn’t part of her plans, but he needs her help.
Their two differing personalities clash, but finding a working relationship may work better than they think even with her uber careful personality.

Some movies don’t require or need anything more than to be enjoyable, and this is, primarily what The Christmas Charade is. There’s a fun conflict with the character personality clash, though I respect that it’s not a hate-to-love thing so much as a careful vs risk taker clash. It makes things a bit more unique and gives some more emotion to the characters.
Rachel and Corey were also co-stars in the mystery movie Jazz Ramsey, which was good, too. Fans must have agreed since they team again here. I haven’t seen Rachel in much, but what I have often sees her in roles where she plays careful characters.
The balance between Whitney’s weak and strong suits in learning FBI spycraft is good and I like that she has more than just natural smarts that allow her to pick these things up, she also has actual talents that help. Like I said, it’s a great balance. I also think that giving both the hero and heroine smarts is the best kind of story play rather than weaking one to strengthen the other. They should complement each other, and this one does it decently well.
If you love the seasonal movies, but also enjoy a bit of mystery that intertwines, this one is good. The decor is over-the-top, but the story and acting fun, plus eagle eye Hallmark fans will immediately recognize the cameo by Kristin Booth. Basically, all of this to say, give The Christmas Charade a chance.

Content: nothing to note that isn’t within the usual TV-G rating of this genre. There is some excitement in this film (danger) where others avoid this but it’s never tense.
