‘A CAROL FOR TWO’ IS FULL OF MUSIC AND LOTS OF FESTIVE HAPPY
Continuing in her usual realm of Hallmark Christmas movies, Ginna Claire Mason returns as leading lady in A Carol for Two. A story about dreams and making things happen.
A Carol for Two (2024) Hallmark TV Film Review
Living in a small town, Violette (Mason) is a girl with big dreams. She has vocal talent that her dad (Paul Essiembre) knows will take her far, but she puts them off in order to care for him. Now he’s well again, and it’s Vi’s turn to shine and everyone in her town roots for her. This sends her off to New York where she has a place in a show that starts performing in January. Though sad to leave her dad at Christmas, she’s also extremely excited to start life in New York. When she lands in the city, nothing goes to plan and instead she is forced to look up her aunt’s former friend who owns a singing restaurant. She gets a job there and starts to find not only her voice, but some new dreams, too.

Like any of the films I’ve seen Hallmark newcomer Ginna Claire Mason in (and according to her credits, this is only her third film credit and all are with Hallmark), this one has a kind of old-fashion look or experience. It also allows its leading lady to show off her talents as a performer in more than one way. As a result, the music is stunning and features some fun tunes as well as the classic and beautiful Christmas carols.
The rest of the cast is good too. Gino Anania plays the character of Brad in a kind of silly kind of way, so there’s additional humor beyond the normal light-hearted feels. This is also the first movie credit for Jordan Litz, too. He’s a good actor though this doesn’t surprise since he’s performed on stage.
Just the same as nearly any Christmas movie you’ll see on TV this time of year, A Carol for Two is fun and the music wonderful. I’m not always the biggest fan of music in film that we see our character perform, but this one makes it work.

Content: there isn’t much to note in this usual TV-G rated film. It’s got a kiss or two, but there shouldn’t be anything that bothers a potential viewer.
